A Gorgeous Cottage in a Central Location

New to collection, Watermill Cottage is a period stone-built conversion from beautiful old farm buildings and an old water mill and is located in an ideal central location - perfect for exploring Northumberland in all directions, coast and country.

Watermill Cottage - Cosy Self Catering Cottage in Northumberland

Close to the Northumbrian Heritage Coast with easy access to the A1 and magnificent coastline. Only 6 miles to the lovely sandy beach at Newton by the Sea and only 7 miles from the historic town of Alnwick, Northumberland’s Ducal town, where you'll find quaint cobbled streets, interesting shops, cafes and restaurants and the famous 'Barter Books'. Alnwick Castle, used as the setting for Hogwart's School in the Harry Potter movies, and the world-class Alnwick Garden and Treehouse. Iconic Bamburgh is just 10 miles from Watermill Cottage, with its magnificent castle on the beach. Trips to the beautiful Farne Islands can be taken from nearby Seahouses, where whole colonies of seals, puffins and other seabirds can be seen up close. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

This lovely cottage is available to book from Monday 30th December 2013. Photographs of the interior will not be available until January, however we can assure you that this gorgeous cottage is furnished and equipped to a luxury 5 Star VisitEngland standard.

Overview

This cottage lends itself very well to either a couple, two couples or a small family. Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome, on condition that they are kept off the furniture and out of the bedrooms. They must also not be left unattended in the cottage. Tiled floor throughout the ground floor, with underfloor heating. Central heating radiators at the first floor. Free wi-fi is available throughout the cottage.

Ground Floor

Lounge/Kitchen/Dining Area

A cosy lounge with a wood burning stove, comfortable sofas, soft rugs and a large flat screen digital TV and DVD player.

Dining table adjacent to French windows, leading out to the rear garden and patio area. This is west facing, so benefits from some lovely late afternoon sunshine - perfect for enjoying a drink on the terrace after a day's sightseeing.

Kitchen

The kitchen is spacious and has all the appliances you would expect in a luxury holiday cottage, including oven, hob, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a table and chairs in here, in addition to the dining table in the lounge.

First Floor

Stairs lead to the first floor, with 2 bedrooms and 1 family bathroom.

Bedroom 1 - Double

A beautifully decorated and furnished room with a solid oak double bed. Luxury quality bed linen and towels, luxury mattress and plenty of storage space. Countryside view. Flat screen TV.

Bedroom 2 - Twin/Superking

An equally attractive and comfortable bedroom, with twin beds that are convertible to a superkingsize double upon request, thereby making this room flexible for different requirements. Please ensure you request which way you require the bed to be made up, unless requested otherwise, the beds will be made up as 2 singles. Plenty of wardrobe space. Flat screen TV.

Bathroom

Spacious bathroom with walk in shower (mains power shower), bath, wash hand basin and WC.

Garden

At the front of the cottage is an enclosed gravelled garden. At the rear is a small lawned garden, paved patio with table and chairs, accessed from the French Windows opening out from the lounge.

Please note that whilst both front and back gardens are 'enclosed' by stone walling, if you have a dog it should be kept under supervision, in case it leaps over the stone wall.

Watermill Cottage is currently awaiting grading by VisitEngland, but is already furnished and equipped to a minimum of 4 star standard.

Where exactly IS Watermill Cottage?

Watermill Cottage is ideally situated in the pretty little hamlet of North Charlton, which is just a couple of minutes from the A1, which makes it possible to access all the attractions of Northumberland quickly and easily. Click HERE to view it in Google Maps.

If you zoom out you can see its proximity to the nearest beaches and also to the A1 trunk road, which allows easy access to all the main attractions of Northumberland. Please Note:

An initial basket of logs will be provided for holidays taken between the end of October and the end of April. Further supplies may be purchased locally at fuel stations, Alnwick or Seahouses.
