About Coquet Cottages

Established in 1997, "Coquet Cottages" comprises a small collection of privately owned luxury holiday properties, all located centrally in the beautiful and historic conservation village of Warkworth, Magdalene HouseNorthumberland.   Warkworth is centrally placed to explore the whole of Northumberland including the coast, the Borders and the National Park, as well as Newcastle and Gateshead, Durham and in fact, the whole of the North East of England.

Our reputation is built upon providing exceptionally high quality, luxurious self-catering holiday cottages for holidays that are truly memorable.  We pay great attention to detail and provide many special touches that you won't find in the majority of self-catering cottages.  We also happily accept pets to the majority of our cottages - rare for luxury self-catering accommodation.5 Star Quality Holiday Cottages in Northumberland North East England

We have been assessed for our quality standards by VisitBritain, the English tourist authority and are delighted to have been awarded 5 stars, which is defined as "Exceptional", for all of our properties except Lane End Cottage, which was awarded 4 stars.   All of our cottages have also been awarded additional accolades for offering a particularly good service for cyclists and walkers.  Waterside and Tall Trees have been awarded a "Families Welcome" accolade and Tall Trees has also been awarded a "Welcome Pets" accolade.

We have a high percentage of guests who return year after year.  Many have favourite cottages they return to and others book different properties each time, depending upon whether they bring friends or family with them.

Warkworth is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque villages in the whole of Northumberland and not only has an excellent range of pubs, restaurants, cafes, art galleries and quaint gift shops, but also a magnificent ruined castle - located right in the middle of the village - to admire and explore.  There are wonderful riverside walks alongside the pretty River Coquet, which encircles the village, to watch the abundance of wildlife such as herons, foxes, migrating birds, leaping salmon, swans and we even have seals swimming in our river, having swum up the estuary to discover the delights of Warkworth for themselves!   Warkworth has a vast, sandy beach with dramatic dunes and wonderful, far-reaching views up and down the Heritage Coastine.  Every one of our properties is situated in the heart of the village.  Coquet View, Lane End and Waterside are located on the riverbank with wonderful riverside views, whilst every other property is within yards of the river, the castle and all of the shops, pubs, etc.  Without exception they are all in very quiet spots, yet within steps of all the amenities of the village.  We can't think of a better place to holiday in Northumberland and we're sure you'll agree with us!

The area is also very popular with bird watchers, as we have several nature reserves close-by, and with cyclists and walkers.  We have received "Cyclist Welcome" and "Walkers Welcome" awards from VisitBritain.  All of our properties have an excellent range of guide books, explorer maps, 'recommended walks' books and tourist attraction brochures covering the whole area.

We are very happy to accept well behaved children and clean, well-trained pets at all of our properties except Waterside, where children are very definitely welcome but pets are not allowed.  All our family sized properties have a selection of DVD's (and videos in some), music, games, toys and books for children of all ages and have safe, enclosed gardens or patio areas.   Coquet View even has a summerhouse full of toys - indoor and outdoor, including a dressing up box - for children.  We will be assessed for VisitBritain's 'Families Welcome' and 'Pets Welcome' awards across all of our cottages soon, but are already equipped to the required standards now.

Warkworth and in fact Northumberland as a whole, is beautiful at all times of the year.  We even have some guests that will only visit in the winter months, as they prefer the crisp, clear skies, mild weather, bright days and the tranquility of the area.

We offer a 10% discount for every repeat booking  - and bake a cake! - as a thank-you to our loyal guests.

We want to ensure that your holiday with us IS truly memorable.  We try to anticipate your needs and desire for the perfect holiday, but if there is anything else we can offer or organise to achieve this, you only have to ask and we will try our best!

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries about our cottages, our service or any aspect of your holiday with Coquet Cottages.

We hope you enjoy choosing and booking your cottage holiday with us and look forward to welcoming you to Warkworth and Northumberland.
