Christmas and New Year Holidays
We are now taking bookings for Christmas and New Year 2008.
Warkworth is positively magical in the wintertime, so what better time to experience the magic than at Christmas or New Year?
We make a big effort to ensure that our cottages are beautifully and tastefully decorated for the Christmas season, with Christmas trees heavily laden with pretty and quirky decorations and twinkling fairy lights, wreaths on the front doors, garlands over the fireplaces and candles for that special yuletide atmosphere. Unfortunately we have no photos of our cottages taken at Christmastime, which is a real shame as they dress up so very well, but we will certainly be taking some this time around for posting here next year!
"What a wonderful cottage. When we drove up and saw the Christmas tree there were lots of ooh's and ahh's and when we got inside it got even better. We have absolutely loved our holiday here and can honestly say that we don't want to leave! A huge thank you again and when we come back we'll definitely give you a call!" The Lamb Family from Sydney Australia stayed in Ceolwulph Cottage Christmas 2006.
Instead of wine, there is champagne chilling in the fridge for your arrival and a festive cake to enjoy throughout your stay. We even leave small gifts under the tree for the little ones!
All the shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs in the village embrace the season with wonderful displays of decorations and the village is extremely pretty after dark with lots and lots of pretty, twinkling fairy lights laced from tree to tree up Castle Street and beyond. We particularly like to enjoy a walk along the beach or around the riverbanks and castle on a clear, crisp and sunny winter day, followed by hot chocolate and Belgian waffles in the Warkworth House Hotel - yummmy!
The Christmas and New Year weeks quickly book up - especially after the summer holidays are over, so book early to avoid disappointment. The weeks before Christmas and after New Year are increasingly popular - perhaps because these are "the calm before the storm" and "needing to chill after it's over" weeks?!
"We have had a fantastic visit! It was home from home for us. Our little girls loved all the toys (Sophie declaring "it's much better playing with other people's toys!"). All very well equipped - great selection of music and videos. The tree was lovely and the Christmas decorations all lovely and tasteful. There has been a lot of thought and effort put into making this a great holiday "home" and it was very much appreciated! Hope to be back soon!" The Valentine family from Hampshire stayed in Ceolwulph Cottage at New Year 2006/07.
