Here are some of the comments kindly left in our visitors' book in Magdalene House:

"This has been a wonderful week in a wonderful location. The house is immaculate and beautifully presented. Huge thanks to Julie for all the extra thoughtful little touches. Warkworth itself is beautiful. The castle is well worth a visit and the free audio tour is excellent. The beach is wonderful and really tired the dog out. Barter Books is a must-visit, with a roaring fire and cosy armchairs as well as the most extensive collection of books (and dogs are welcome to browse aswell) and helpful staff. Bamburgh is well worth a visit, as is Craster and the view from the crags as you walk to Dunstanburgh Castle is breathtaking. All in all a really fantastic holiday, thank you." The Lepatourels & Marmite the lab. April 2010

"Thank you Julie for another holiday. This house is everything we wanted and much more. Everything was perfect. Till the next holiday." Liz, Stewart and family. March 2010

"Magalene House - "Wow" what a joy it was to arrive at such a delightful venue. The decor and cleanliness is the best we have seen in self catering accommodation. The welcome pack and all the 'extra' little touches were much appreciated. We had a lovely four days and I'm sure we'll return. Many thanks." Janet, Brenda, Donna and Pru.March 2010

"Another lovely holiday in a great Coquet Cottages house. Not had much of a rest as we've done plenty of walking and we have a very tired Border Terrier on our hands - loved his runs on Warkworth beach. Thanks again for everything." Anne, Brian and family. March 2010

"We have had a wonderful relaxing time here at Magdalene House. The house has real Wow factor, it's so nice my son wants to move in! Even the weather has been great. Thank you for all the thoughtful extra touches." Sarah, Paul and family. February 2010

"First-Class accommodation!" The Bowmans and the Ryders. February 2010

"We have had a lovely time at Magdalene House. It's beautifully furnished - the Christmas tree and decorations a lovely touch. The snow fell heavily towards the end of our holiday and Julie was very helpful, offering us the opportunity to stay longer if we needed to. Thanks again and Happy New Year 2010." The Smith family. January 2010

"Julie, you've certainly surpassed yourself this Christmas! Well done. What a wonderfully warm welcome we received - from the beautifully decorated Christmas tree - to all the other Christmas touches around the house - to the amazing and very generous welcome pack. The house - as always - was found to be in immaculate order - absolutely spotless. What a perfect Christmas week - snow outside and beautiful and warm inside. PS The Treehouse Restaurant at Alnwick was super on Christmas eve - food, service, ambience - so much so we went again on Boxing Day and that was even better!" The Carter family. Christmas 2009

" We have one huge complaint....and that is that we have to go home! But we couldn't have had a more relaxing and chilled time here at Magdalene House. All your needs are fully catered for, whether it be Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. It really felt like home. Immaculate and extremely tastefully decorated and furnished with delightful Christmas 'touches'. We would definitely recommend this cottage to all our friends and neighbours." The Boardman Gang. November 2009

"'Home from home', we had a wonderful time and very sorry to be leaving. The house is beautiful and we loved every part of the stay. Thank you for the hospitality and we will definitely return. The boys absolutely loved it! Thank you." The Webster family. November 2009

"Had a lovely relaxing time, house 10/10 - cannot fault anything. We will be back." The Fielders and the Moores November 2009

"Comfortable house in a great location. We have all had a great holiday and will definitely visit again." The Walkers, July 2009

"Imagine if you will, the perfect retreat to get away from it all, imagine no longer, you have arrived! The previous comments say it all and are also really helpful in guiding us for places to eat. Yes, the portions in Topsy Turvey's are huge, but this seems to be the theme wherever you eat! Our days have consisted of sitting in the garden in the morning and going to a new beach every day, tiring the dogs out and lots of reading. 2nd visit here and I guarantee there will be a 3rd. Have a great holiday." Julie and Deryn, May 2009

"Wow! What a beautiful place to stay and the welcome pack was great. Well situated for sightseeing and plenty of places to eat. Thanks for making it like home from home, can't wait to come back!" Karen, Richard, Lynn and Mark, May 2009

"We all had a great week, it was great having our cousins opposite! (at Waterside). We visited loads of places and castles, including Holy Island which was an amazing place. The house is great, comfortable, clean and homely, it really does deserve those 5 stars!" Fiona, Chris, doug and Eve, April 2009

"Thank you Julie for a lovely week in your beautiful house. Once again you have thought of everything. The weather has been very kind to us. We managed to see 4 deer, an owl and a seal with a salmon in its mouth by the river all in 1 hour! Special thanks for the welcome pack and Molly the dog is going home really tired!" Liz, Stewart and family, March 2009

"A fantastic house, spotless and so homely. Thank you Julie for letting us stay in such a wonderful place." Darren, Heather, Frank and Lucy, March 2009

"A lovely weekend! The accommodation was as per website - excellent. The beds were the most comfortable we have slept in. The house was lovely and clean. We will be back! J,S,D,R,J and L, March 2009

"Wow! At last a holiday home that really is 5 Star, is as good as it looks on the website (which is fantastic and tells you everything) and best of all, accepts dogs! So many holiday cottages that take dogs are not very clean and are poorly equipped with 2nd hand furniture. This really does feel like a hotel, with the luxury toiletries and fluffy towels and all the little extras that you don't normally find - thank you. We have had a wonderful week!" The Greens, Feb 2009

"The house is fantastic - like staying in someone's home, not a sterile holiday home at all. We'll most certainly be back and will recommend to friends and family." Mary and Brian

"Our second visit - again fantastic. Love the attention to detail and special touches. Could quite happily stay in the house and forget about the world, but there are so many wonderful places to visit. Overall, fantastic holiday! Be back again at Christmas and hopefully before then too!". The Carters, Jan 2009

"We've had a fabulous stay, the house is immaculate and has been a pleasure to stay in, thanks. We have wanted for nothing and will certainly be back!". Sue, Sam and family

"Thanks for a wonderful weekend. We have all really enjoyed ourselves. Fabulous house, gorgeous decor! We want to know where every piece of furniture has been bought from! Everything we could possibly need or want in this great 'home from home'. Thanks for being so helpful with booking. We will have to come back again soon!". Gail, Kris and family.

"What a fabulous house! Thank you to Julie for making our stay so comfortable. Had a great time especially on Friday when the Christmas lights were switched on. Everything about the stay was great, from the actual booking to the departure. We will definitely book Magdalene House again and we will highly recommend it to our friends. Thank you" Michelle, Eileen, Bev and Yvonne.

"What a fantastic week! We've loved every bit of our holiday - and we've been so lucky with the weather. Flying our kites on Warkworth beach was fab and gave us our second childhood (our kids are grown-up). Magdalene House has been a wonderful home for us and Julie has thought of everything. Her eye for detail and flair for design is a credit to her. We've been so thrilled, we've already booked 2 more holidays here and can't wait for our next visit." Vanessa and Andy (and Rosie the labradoodle), Derbyshire.

"We've had a wonderful week - wish we had booked to stay longer! Thank you very much for everything. It was lovely to meet you both on Tuesday. Hope to book into one of your properties in the future. Thank you again." Carl and Toni Pereira, London.

"Thank you! A real home away from home. The house is beautiful, well maintained and very comfortable. The little touches make all the difference, even the local wildlife got in on the act, a blue tit decided the bedroom on the top floor was worth a stay!" The Mathiesons, Sheffield.

"WOW! Five-star and then some!! What a wonderful house, less a holiday cottage, more like walking into your home for the whole week. You have thought of absolutely everything and the welcome goodies were lovely (especially the scrummy cake!!) Thank you! Our first visit to Warkworth and we love it. Warkworth House Hotel for Sunday lunch - a bit lacking in atmosphere because it was quiet, but the excellent food made up for that. The Jackdaw was very interesting and peculiar at the same time, but the food was very good. The Coach Inn at Lesbury well worth a visit and The Sanctuary Alnwick Castle is brilliant. Everyone in Northumberland is so friendly and welcoming and we shall definitely be back to Coquet Cottages! Thank you for a fantastic week." Andrew and Sue and 'The Jack Russells', Lincolnshire.

"We have had a lovely stay - and accommodation is just first class! This is our 4th time in Warkworth and we enjoy it every time in this lovely area of England! We would recommend - The Jackdaw in the village - small and unusual but food lovely, Cook and Barker - excellent food, different menu, good wine list, nice atmosphere (Newton on the Moor), Coach Inn, Lesbury, not grand surroundings but Sunday lunch very good value, well cooked food and huge portions! The Farne Islands - if into bird life and or photography, to go this season (June) with lots of activity - just lovely!" Kevin and Anne, Glasgow.

"Thank you for a very comfortable stay in Magdalene House - first class accommodation and superbly equipped. Maps and info provided were extremely useful. Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Northumbria, our dog thinks the beaches are heaven, Despite the weather, the week has been great." Janet and Robert, Solihull.

"Bringing my mum on holiday with us this year. The accommodation was key and had to 'be right'! Magdalene House completely exceeded her expectations! (And I was No.1 daughter for a week!). So thank you, the house is just superb and we loved Warkworth (normally stay at Embleton). Mum is already talking of coming back here! "We have had a lovely calm quiet week's holiday. Had lots of family and friends to stay and as we do, think Magdalene House is beautiful. Even our dog jack "Hendrix" has had a fab time running on the beaches and shattered the rest of the day." The Tatum family, Burnopfield.

"We've had SO much fun - the place is beautiful, we've left lots of recommendations." The Wrigglesworth family, Bradford.

"Late choice, but had an extremely enjoyable few days. Lovely part of the country, made even more enjoyable by the friendly people. Magdalene House is very comfortable and welcoming and we would certainly encourage friends to visit." The Hudson family, Sheffield.

"Such a lovely house in a beautiful location. Probably the best self catering we've stayed in. The gift shops in Warkworth have been most welcome this close to Christmas! We've loved our stay in Northumberland, wonderful scenery and some of the most wonderful beaches - even enjoyable in the icy wind. We will most certainly return to Coquet Cottages and tell all our friends too. Thank you for the wine, biscuits, tea, coffee, etc., not to mention the wonderful fluffy towels!." The Anders, York.

"Thank you for the lovely accommodation. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It has felt like home, thank you for all the added extras. Visited Bamburgh Castle, lovely day out, lovely views. Also went to Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Gardens, brilliant days out, definitely a must-see for both, great for the kids aswell - take a change of clothing and a towel for the kids if they're not afraid of getting wet in the garden water features. Eating out at Masons Arms most nights as a very welcoming pub with lovely home made food. Topsy Turvey gorgeous, had dinner there - a must do for everyone. Had lovely walks to the beach and a very long walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle. Once again thank you for a great stay, will definitely try to get back next year as much more to see and do." The Roberts family, Teesside.

"We really enjoyed our stay here. Our two little girls made themselves instantly at home and the little extra details helped us to feel even more comfortable. We enjoyed a day at Alnwick Gardens and a number of beaches (Alnmouth was definitely the pick of the bunch). Any golfers will find Warkworth golf course a real test and great value. "We have so enjoyed staying here and our thanks for everything left to add to a great holiday. Mr Boswell (standard poodle) and Mr Portly (ancient Siamese cat) have also enjoyed themselves! Thanks for the welcome chew bone! We have packed in a lot during our stay, had precious weather - endless skies and hot sun for the most part. Eating out has been varied, The Jackdaw has been top of the list for us, Topsy Turvey possibly second, Amble's fish and chip shops also good. Warkworth is the most lovely village in every way and such a good place to be based for going to places. Magdalene House is great to return to with all its comforts. " We had a wonderful time! We were especially pleased with the Christmas tree! What a great treat and a real home-from-home touch. We all felt thoroughly spoilt and pampered and will certainly be back one day. Warkworth beach is marvellous - a good walk through the dunes. Even the weather was good - not even windy (shame, we brought a kite!). We would really recommend a visit to Alnwick and Craster and visit as many beaches as you can." The Fergusons, Lincoln.

"Lovely holiday. Magdalene House has been a wonderful place to stay. It had everything we could need and more, in fact we didn't need to bring as much as we did - it was all here! The area is beautiful and so much to see. We recommend Alnwick Garden Treehouse and the Sanctuary at the Castle for food, both great places to visit. We hope to be back to continue exploring the beautiful Northumberland countryside." The Hortons, Grantham.

"What a beautiful house to stay in. As promised, it is like staying in a friend's home and has everything you could need. We have explored as many of the beaches as our time would allow and our labradoodle has literally run his poor legs off - so much so we had to have a takeaway on our last night to give him a break!" Wayne and Kelli. Peterborough.

"A delightful place to relax and get used to being "40", Magdalene House was stupendous in everyway. Thank you so much." Kate, Italy.

(You can get an extra hour on the island by going on the earlier trip and asking to come back on the later one.) " The Jordans, Glasgow.

"Fantastic long weekend in a beautiful place - a group of forty-somethings have cavorted around on the Northumberland beaches like a group of twenty-somethings. Now we're all walking like we're a group of eighty-somethings! Thanks for all your help Julie - you have thought of everything and your whole operation is very impressive and classy. Like the governer of California "I'll be back",." Tim Taylor, Sheffield.

"We have had a fabulous family holiday in your amazing house. It has been great staying in such a great house, 'home from home' with every comfort thought of. I will thoroughly recommend this to our friends - if you are reading this I hope you have as much fun here as we did! Thank you." The Deanes, Winchester.

"Probably the best self catering we've experienced and all the better for being able to bring our little dog. The peace and quiet was wonderful, the beds a delight and the generous comforts, home from home. Our week here just flew and we leave with the positives far exceeding any negatives. Well done Julie." "Despite the weather, which to say the least was variable, we have had a wonderful holiday. There is so much to see and do and the house and the people of Northumbria have really made our holiday a memorable experience. Julie has been so helpful and friendly and the babysitters were great and gave us a few evenings out alone. A big thank-you for all the little extras, the welcome pack was appreciated and Kiera ate her doggy treats with gusto. The children loved the toys, bears and the PlayStation was a godsend on many a rainy afternoon. Isabel loved her boudoir, it seems she wants to take the black and white theme back to her own room in London! We hope you enjoy your stay, here are some of the things we enjoyed the most: Cragside - absolute must if you love Victorian Gothic and the labyrinth and kids area is great; Alnwick Gardens and Castle; Bamburgh Castle and the beach are glorious; We love a great beach through Longhoughton called Sugar Sands; Lindisfarne - everything you imagine it to be; Beamish Museum - one of the best we have ever been to; Warkworth Castle is a real fairytale and great for exploring." The Engler family, London.

"One of the best houses we have stayed in - very well equipped (especially the toys, which the three boys loved). Perfect location for exploring locally and beyond! We loved the beach at Bamburgh and the boys enjoyed the ice cream parlour at Morwick! Had a super meal at the Warkworth House Hotel. We loved walking down to the river in the evenings to watch the herons. Would love to come back again soon to do all the things we missed this time." The Taylor family, Tonbridge.

"The best thing about being here has been the amazing beaches wherever we have visited. Warkworth, Bamburgh, Newton-by-the-Sea and Alnmouth. Evie the dog loved the space, the kids loved the sand dunes and the grown ups seeing them having such fun and getting so tired. Our favourite castle (out of Warkworth, Alnwick and Bamburgh) was Bamburgh, which is where our favourite beach is located. We will certainly be back here soon as there is so much to do and a week simply isn't enough." The Lee family, London.

"The weather half-term has been generally glorious and we have had some beautiful coastal walks along the beaches at Bamburgh, Craster and Warkworth. We can recommed a visit to Cragside House - a stunning house and gardens. The house itself is very luxurious and we especially enjoyed the complimentary toiletries, the welcome pack and the wine. A great week!". The Siddle family, Leeds.

"My daughter and I had a fabulous week on the Northumberland coast. Her 2 dogs took to the beaches with all the vigour and zest of 2 young puppies. Magdalene House was beautiful, equipped with everything you need. We found 'Ross Beach' which was like being in Barbados. We were very lucky with the weather! A credit to you Julie and Mark, your cottages are truly stunning." Lesley and Lucy, Archie and Isla, Harrogate.

"Julie - thank you for your kindness in upgrading us after the floods. This place is fabulous - you've obviously got a real flair for design. I felt like taking up squatters rights!! We've been lucky with the beautiful weather - walks up to Dunstanburgh Castle and on Bamburgh Beach were the highlights. Thanks - We'll be back!" Lyn and Andy Buckley.

"Another great weekend in your fantastic accommodation!!! You do really know how to look after us!! Thank you for making our Golden Wedding so special, the cake and chocolates were a lovely touch! Our five year old grandchild loved the games and toys and our visit to Alnwick Gardens halloween festival was fantastic. All in all a very special weekend!" The Parton Family, Wakefield.

"Fantastic accommodation. Lots of personal touches, very friendly manager (Julie). Great location for days out - can't believe how many places we got to, including the Metro Centre! So close to the river - Danny's heaven (although didn't catch a salmon!) 1 week was not long enough, we are hoping to pursuade grandparents to join us up here next Summer. Thank goodness for good old 'Google', otherwise we would have missed out on this beautiful part of the world. Who needs to go abroad for a special honeymoon. This place is perfect!!" Jude, Danny and Jake Flint stayed at Magdalene House and Tall Trees
