Riverside - Comments from our Visitors' BooksOur visitors' books are great to read through over a cup of coffee or glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, for example, but for the sake of avoiding repetition here, we have omitted many of these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors' books in Riverside. |

Here are some of the comments kindly left over the last few months:
"We have had another great holiday at Riverside. The weather was not great but it didn't stop us doing any of the things we wanted to do. Please thank Mr and Mrs Hardy as the house was immaculate, we loved the flowers and all the other thoughtful gestures. We can think of nothing to improve that house. We will be back." The Gilroy family.
"Just to say, we have stayed at some wonderful accommodations in the world and this place definitely ranks up there with some of the best. What a treat to go on holiday and feel like you've arrived home!! Thank you so much for all the extra little touches, which just all add up to a truly excellent stay! We're just deciding when we can come and visit Riverside again!!" Sam, Jim, Isabelle, George and Biscuit stayed April 2009.
"Where do I start? The house is beautiful, everything has been thought of, I would say it is equal to 5 Star hotel standards. We were here for a short break as part of my 50th birthday celebrations and the special touches of the chocolates and card from Phil and Lynne were lovely and then a birthday card arrived on Saturday from Julie, how did she even remember it was my birthday?! We have had a lovely time and will definitely be back! Thanks again Julie, Phil and Lynn." The Stobbart family stayed March 2009.
"Lovely house, a real home from home, great surroundings, friendly people, food and service in both The Hermitage and the Masons Arms excellent. Above all thank you for the weather!" Marion and family stayed March 2009.
"We have had a great time. The cottage is lovely, in an ideal setting. The weather has been very kind to us so we have enjoyed walks on the beach, flying the kite and Alnwick Gardens. We enjoyed lunch at The Hermitage Inn and The Treehouse (Alnwick Gardens). We had a day at Bamburgh - beautiful beach and lovely village. Thank you for providing us with such a lovely place to stay." Emma, Ben and family stayed March 2009.
"Great cottage that is very well equipped. Lovely views aswell. We all loved the area and so did the dogs! Thank you for a fantastic, relaxing holiday - we are definitely going to be back!" Sue, Nick, Charlotte, Will, Meg, Buster and Marris, Feb. 2009.
"Lovely cottage - everything you need is here, Thank you for the extra touches. Will certainly come again." Trevor and Julie, Lincs, Feb 2009.
"Our second visit to Warkworth, even more enjoyable than the first. Riverside is absolutely superb with all the little touches and flourishes that really do make all the difference. Thank you very much for the flowers, cake and wine. Weather was kind throughout our stay, during which time we visited Alnwick and Gardens. Lunch at the Treehouse every bit as good as previous visitors have said. Very good meals out also enjoyed at the Castle Hotel at Bamburgh, Masons Arms at Warkworth. The mining museum at Woodhorn is excellent as were the beaches at Druridge Bay and Warkworth. Walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle fantastic. Very much hope to return again in 2009." The Johnstone family, Leics, Jan 2009.
"Had a wonderful 2 weeks in a very beautiful house. We have been to Ross Sands, quite a trek to get to but certainly worth the wait. Had champagne on the beach on Christmas Eve. Newton by the Sea is where we saw our first seal. Had a very good lunch in the Hermitage in Warkworth. Walked for miles on Druridge Bay, at last we managed to tire the dogs out! The butchers shop in Bamburgh is excellent, had a superb loin of pork for New Years Eve. The weather has been very kind to us, no rain. New Year's Day was fabulous weather, we walked almost to Alnmouth on the beach. Met some lovely people, all with dogs, can't wait to come back." Lesley, Lucy and Christian, Dec 2008.
"What a fantastic long weekend. Outside crisp and even, inside toastie toastie. It was lovely to go out and come back to a cosy warm house. The walk to the beach was lovely. Lunch at Topsy Turvey - food glorious, but book! Visit to the Treehouse at Alnwick for lunch worth a visit, book there too! The walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh lovely, wrap up, then stop at Lesbury, The Coach Inn (recommended in pub guide), very homely but contemporary pub. We didn't see the owl, but heard it! Will definitely be back. Lynne and Phil you have a lovely cottage and thank you Julie for all your help and welcome when we got here." Rhona and George, Nov. 2008.
" Beautiful cottage, lovely location. Very rare to find somewhere that takes dogs which is so high quality. The fluffiest towels ever (which fabric conditioner do you use?) We didn't want to leave. NB. Sunday lunch at the Alnwick Garden Treehouse a must." Julie, Stephen, Lynn and Mark, Nov. 2008.
"Thank you for the use of such a beautiful house! Everything was absolutely fabulous! The views, the walks, the beach and scenery were very enjoyable. Most of all the peace and quiet was fantastic." Lee and Irene, Nov 2008.
