Throstle Cottage - Comments from our Visitors' Books
Our Visitors' Books are great to read through over a cup of coffee or glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, for example, but for the sake of avoiding repetition here, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors' book in Throstle Cottage.

As a newly listed cottage, we haven't yet taken a copy of the comments left in the visitors book. However we send a Guest Satisfaction Survey to all our guests after their holiday and here are some of the comments provided from them when we asked "What did you like best about the cottage?":

“An amazing place to "come home" to after long days of walking. We were pleased to stay in one evening, have a luxurious bath, then cook ourselves, which we don't usually do in someone else's property, as there is always a slight distaste with someone else's equipment, utensils etc. Not here, every cup, mug, glass or plate we used was sparklingly clean and not chipped, old, faulty etc.! Makes such a difference!”

"Everything was comfortable, welcoming, clean and fresh. was a pleasure to stay at Throstle Cottage with its excellent finishes and was up to the usual high standard of Coquet Cottages. We felt at home as soon as we entered the front door. loved the fruit cake and what can we say about the fluffy towels - so luxurious! We will be back. Izzy our border terrier loved the place - she just kept walking all the way around the cottage - kept her good for ages. We also enjoyed dining at the Coach Inn - so convenient! I ate there on my birthday and food was wonderful."
"Throstle Cottage offered a lovely mix of homeliness with some little touches that made it feel extra special, for example tea and biscuits and little bubble baths. On a whole, staying at Throstle Cottage and booking with Coquet Cottages was very refreshing compared to other rental cottages (eg English Country Cotages) where each room has signs and rules and does not feel as relaxed. The emails about local points of interest and events was also very thoughtful."

The personal touches provided by the owner of Throstle Cottage were great, they were all luxury items, lovely choc biscuits; fresh towels, welcome pack, bottle of wine, milk and a bottle of beer were fabulous and the treats for our dog most appreciated. Even a couple of towels for the dog, a toy and poo bags! We were not expecting such brilliant touches, great comprehensive information on the area, with current paper and magazines to keep us entertained. All in all the best cottage experience we have experienced. We would definitely book again. The owner was in residence and made sure we had all we need with a lovely introduction from her. "It was such a beautiful cottage - a perfect getaway! The cottage itself was the main attraction when we booked (I'm an academic working on the 18th century, so it was too good to miss), and the roll-top bath was the clincher. We also really appreciated the personal touches such as the dog biscuits for Parsley; and the information pack was excellent - we were only there for a long weekend, so didn't manage to 'do' very much, but it was great to know the information was there in abundance if we needed it."
