Located where the River Aln meets the sea, Alnmouth makes a delightful base with its golden beach, picturesque harbour, abundant wildlife, and selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. Keen golfers can practice their swing on one of England’s oldest golf courses (1.5 miles), while the Northumberland Coast Path offers gorgeous walks, including a 3.5-mile stretch to Boulmer. The market town of Alnwick offers a fascinating day out (5 miles) with its iconic castle, gardens, treehouse restaurant and the famous Barter Books.

Spread over three floors, this stylish retreat is light and airy with relaxed coastal interiors and a wealth of cosy touches. Enter via a shared entrance and take the left-hand door to the apartment. Hang up coats before heading up the first flight of stairs to a snug family room with twin sofas, a TV, board games and patio doors leading to the private terrace. Climb the next flight of stairs to find the social hub of this property, an open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. There’s a light-filled kitchen with high-quality appliances and a breakfast bar, a bench-style dining table set in the bay window with estuary views, and a cosy lounge arranged around a Smart TV and decorative fireplace. This floor is also home to a cosy twin room, which can be set up as a super-king-size, along with the family bathroom. Climb a further flight of stairs to find the master bedroom with a king-size bed, walk-in cupboard, en-suite bathroom and estuary views, along with a double bedroom with beach views and an en-suite shower room.

Patio doors lead from the snug to a private south-facing terrace with outdoor dining facilities, a pergola and estuary views. On the ground floor, there’s a small, shared yard with a cold tap for rinsing sandy toes, and a permit is provided for unallocated parking outside. Further public on street parking is available within 100 metres.

What a fantastic property and so close to the beach though parking is a problem even with permit provided. The outside space for drinks in the sunshine was used a lot. Alnmouth has become one of our favourite places to stay but once your car is parked with a permit,leave it and enjoy the beautiful walks.

Our second stay at The Penthouse in Alnmouth and already looking forward to the next one! Beautifully and tastefully furnished - a luxurious home-from-home in an exceptional location overlooking the estuary and just 1 minute to the beach and 2 minutes to the local shops! We received a call from Mike to property manager on our second day, checking tRead morehat everything was in order, which is a lovely touch. We had a lovely break staying in the Penthouse with 2 friends. Easy access to beach, shops, pubs and the golf course. M&S Food Hall and other supermarkets ten minutes away. Apartment very well equipped and comfortable. Lots of Historic houses within easy access and lovely walks from the Penthouse. We hope to return next year.
