This three-storey holiday escape is in the charming village of Warkworth, on a quiet road with no passing traffic. It makes a superb base for families or couples to explore this stunning part of the Northumberland coast. The village boasts a variety of shops and places to eat, and there’s an excellent pub/restaurant just 200 metres from your door. The pretty, riverside walk to the beach is just 1 mile, and it’s less than 2 miles to the fishing port of Amble, where you’ll find excellent seafood restaurants and a lovely ice-cream parlour. From Amble you can also book a boat trip to see the puffins of Coquet Island. Venturing further afield, a scenic coastal drive will take you to the villages of Alnmouth, Alnwick – including the iconic castle, Beadnell, Embleton, Craster, Seahouses and Bamburgh – all within 25 miles.
Step into the hallway with its beautiful wooden floor and head into the light-filled lounge, which has an impressive ornamental fireplace and a classic bay window, plus a selection of comfortable seating, a Smart TV and shelves full of books. If you love listening to music you can use the Teac Hi-Fi with MP3 connection, and there’s a small selection of toys and games in a cupboard in the hall to keep younger members of the group happy. Head through to the kitchen/diner to find another fabulous room, thoughtfully equipped with everything necessary to make holiday cooking quick and easy. For indulgent breakfasts, there’s even an electric juicer and a Nespresso coffee machine. This room has a dining table to seat six, and glazed doors that lead to the courtyard. Completing the ground floor, which is wheelchair-accessible, is a WC. On the first floor you’ll find two bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, both with cast-iron beds and French-style wardrobes. Their pocket-sprung mattresses and luxury linens are bound to help with a good night’s sleep, and the king-size room has a Smart TV, ideal for lazy mornings in bed. This is also the best room in which to place a cot. The twin room has two full-size (3’) single beds, each with a double duvet for comfort, and views of the castle in winter when the trees have dropped their leaves. Next door, a stylish family bathroom serves these two bedrooms. Take the stairs up again to find another king-size bedroom which is set across the entire second floor. This room has real wow-factor, with a leather bed, TV and masses of floor space. Again, it boasts a high-quality, pocket-sprung mattress, luxury bedlinen and ample storage for your clothes, plus a large en-suite shower room which has a view of the castle through its skylight.
When fresh air and sunshine beckon you outside, spend time in the fully enclosed, L-shaped courtyard garden, where there’s a bench seat and furniture for dining alfresco. You’ll have one private parking space that’s marked out, with room for a second car at the front of the house, and further parking (subject to availability) on the riverbank parking area 150 metres away.
