This beautiful 18th-century home is located on the main street in Warkworth, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of village life. You’ll find gift shops, an excellent art gallery and a choice of welcoming pubs and restaurants all within 200 metres. Sleeping five guests across three bedrooms and welcoming two dogs, it’s a wonderful base for families, couples or friends. The beach is an easy 1-mile stroll along the riverbank, while Amble’s bustling harbour, weekly market and seafood bistros are a similar distance. Follow the Coastal Route to discover Druridge Bay, Alnmouth, and Alnwick (all within 8 miles), or venture a little further to Embleton (11.5 miles), Beadnell (17 miles), Seahouses (19 miles) and Bamburgh (20.5 miles). Or head inland to Rothbury (17.5 miles) – the gateway to the majestic Northumberland National Park.
On arrival, step through the front door and into a spacious hall where stairs sweep up to the first floor and doors lead into the lounge. The cosy lounge centres around an original inglenook fireplace with a wood burner, complemented by a Smart TV with extras for entertainment. From here, one step leads down to the bright, roomy kitchen, fully equipped with everything you need for meal prep – plus a Nespresso coffee machine (please bring your own pods). Sit down to meals at the dining table for six. Upstairs, there’s a king-size bedroom with a luxurious velvet bed and an en-suite shower room. The beautifully tiled family bathroom retains its cast-iron bath and has been updated with a shower, fluffy robes and luxury toiletries. A second king-size bedroom and a single room complete the space, with all bedrooms dressed in Egyptian cotton.
From the kitchen, glazed doors open directly onto the garden, which has a courtyard, a table and chairs for six, and a pretty lawn. The space is fully enclosed and has access via a garden gate from a rear lane – handy when returning from the beach with a dog. While you can’t park directly outside, there’s space opposite the cottage or in the village square.
