Just a stone’s throw from the Northumberland Coast AONB, this scenic country cottage invites couples and small families to escape it all. It sits in the picturesque village of Christon Bank, home to a welcoming pub just half a mile from your door. Embleton, a slightly larger village, is 2 miles away and a handy stop-off point en route to the stunning Embleton Bay (3 miles). This beautiful beach promises days of sunbathing, ball games and swimming when the sun shines. In cooler weather, take a bracing hike along the Northumberland Coast Path to reach Dunstanburgh Castle (5 miles), Howick Sands (7 miles) or the charming seaside village of Alnmouth (9.5 miles). Staying inland, discover plenty to see and do in the market town of Alnwick (8 miles), home to a world-famous castle that featured in both Downton Abbey and the Harry Potter films.

Lovingly restored to a high standard, this single-storey property retains plenty of its original features while offering a contemporary and comfortable place to stay. Enjoy long, restful evenings in the lounge, a cosy space with a wood burner set in an inglenook fireplace, soft seating and a Smart TV. If there’s nothing to watch, switch on the Bluetooth speaker and dig out a board game for a night of healthy competition. Moving through the hall, you’ll find the kitchen/diner at the back of the house. With a modern kitchen and a dining space neatly tucked into the corner, it’s perfect for budding chefs to get creative at mealtimes. Along the hall are two inviting bedrooms: one double with plenty of storage, and one super-king-size with zip-and-link beds offering flexibility for sharers. Completing the interior is the family bathroom, boasting a shower and a freestanding roll-top bath with luxury toiletries to hand.

From the kitchen, let the scent of lavender lead you into the garden. The patio is lined with borders of mature flora and pretty plants, and it backs onto a field where grazing livestock may pop their heads over the wall to say hello. You’ll also find a garden shed for bike storage and a table for al fresco dining. While there’s no private parking, you can park on the street just a few metres from your door.

We had a lovely relaxing week in this beautiful holiday cottage. The cottage is in a quiet, peaceful location and is very comfortable. It was well equipped with everything we needed during our stay.

Fuchsia Cottage was an ideal base for our stay. We loved the bright, very well equipped open-plan kitchen/ diner, that opened out on to the garden. The beds were most comfortable and there was hot water available at any time. We found the living room a bit dark but were hardly in there and it would be very cosy in the winter. We had everything we nRead moreeeded for a very enjoyable week. Embleton beach is close by and an easy walk using the footpaths. We would certainly return. Hide

Fuchsia cottage was perfect for 2 adults but also worked well for four of us who dont mind sharing a bathroom/wc. The cottage actually seemed bigger than the photos suggested - in particular, the kitchen diner which was a lovely space to hang out, share meals and watch the sunset when the weather didnt allow us to get into the garden. Super comfy bRead moreeds, a great shower and very peaceful - wed thoroughly recommend. A great central base for visiting all that the coastal Northumberland had to offer. Hide

A deceptively sized cottage from the outside and whilst the living room & bedrooms are quite 'cosy', the kitchen/dining area is spacious and well equipped. It was lovely to have the doors open onto the small pretty garden overlooking the fields. It was very quiet with a faint sound of trains in the distance. The beds were very comfortable with goodRead more quality linen. Equally, the towels were fluffy and soft. The Welcome Hamper with milk, bread and butter was extremely useful as there is no village store in Christon Banks and the text from the owner of the property was appreciated. We had no problems parking on the road, although it was a tight squeeze when a tractor came through. Enjoyed a walk to Embleton, stopping at the Grey's Inn before walking on to the Ship at Low Newton. Also enjoyed a Biily Shiel's Puffin seabirds with Seals trip. Hide

Excellent location to explore Northumberland with easy access to the A1. Very quiet location. Cottage is deceiving from the outside.
