In historic Warkworth, this impressive holiday home sits on the banks of the River Coquet, offering unbridled luxury, spacious light-filled rooms, and a beautiful garden for making the most of sunny days. Within 0.5 miles, you’ll find quality pubs, a restaurant, a French patisserie, and an art gallery, letting you soak up the area’s culture without venturing far. Cross the river via The Butts and follow a country road for just under a mile to reach the fabulous Warkworth Beach. Here, brace yourself for a cold-weather hike along the coastal path or enjoy warm-weather days with sunbathing and ball games. From the shore, you’ll be treated to remarkable views of Coquet Island and Alnmouth (4 miles). Just 2 miles away, the neighbouring village of Amble is another seaside delight, home to the Amble Harbour Village, where you can browse independent crafts and sample casual seafood snacks.

Inside, high ceilings, bay and sash windows, and original fireplaces set an elegant tone throughout. Enter the hallway with its sweeping staircase leading to the upper floors, before stepping into the living room. This inviting space boasts an open fire, a bay window with river views, ample seating, and a Smart TV. Next door, the stylish dining room offers plenty of space to raise a glass over celebratory meals. At the rear of the house, the kitchen is fully equipped with quality appliances and a sunny breakfast area beside patio doors. A handy WC can be found under the stairs before you head up to the bedrooms. On the first floor, three beautifully presented bedrooms are accompanied by a family bathroom. Each room features soft linens and quality mattresses, arranged as a king-size and two super-king-size bedrooms that both convert to twins on request. The second floor is home to the master suite, set beneath the eaves and occupying the entire level. This impressive king-size room includes a window seat in a bay window with breathtaking views, plus an en-suite shower room.

Typical of a Victorian terrace, the property’s slim but seemingly endless garden stretches out with lawns and flowery borders. From the kitchen, step onto a paved patio with an outdoor table and chairs, ideal for al fresco dining. A shed offers storage for bikes and outdoor equipment, while the grassy lawn provides plenty of space for children and pets to play, with distant views of Warkworth Castle as a backdrop. Although there is no private parking, ample space is usually available nearby at The Butts (100 metres).

Heron House was a fabulous base for the week. It was spacious and well laid out with all the needed kit and a lovely welcome hamper! The location is very peaceful with very easy parking (no off street parking often puts us off but this was no problem at all). Plenty to do in a short distance with a party ranging from 14 to 80.

Our family loved Heron House. It was in a great location with views of the river and the castle. It had everything we needed and we loved playing some of the many board games. The bedrooms were spacious. We loved the goodies in the welcome hamper and our dog loved her treats too. She also enjoyed the garden. We made some very special memories at HeRead moreron House. Hide

Lovely house: everything you could need was provided with plenty of equipment. We cooked every day in the House and found all the pans, crockery, cutlery we needed. We have stayed in many houses and cottages over the years and this surpassed all in resources: how many games can you play in a week... or how many books can you read!!! Lovely large beRead moredrooms with super views ... lovely cot included, once we worked out how to assemble it!! Beds were comfy and bath/shower spacious and perfectly supplied with toiletries... and what a welcome basket.. yummy!! The location was delightful: loved watching the herons on the river from the windows. We spotted deer one day. Although there was no off road parking, we managed to park outside the house every day with our three cars. We loved that we could walk to the castle, pubs and town within minutes.. beautiful place.. would love to stay again. Hide

We celebrated a family birthday at Heron House and it was perfect for 7 adults and a dog. The location was great in a beautiful village with good walks and dog friendly eating places just a few minutes from the door. The house is well equipped, clean and beautifully furnished but feels comfortable and homely. The welcome hamper was the best we haveRead more ever come across! Parking even for 3 cars was never a problem. There are fast EV chargers in Alnwick. We would love to return. Hide
