Lavender house sadly doesn't live up to its description in the Coquet web site. The building on arrival would benefit from a clean as would the windows and the dead plants in the planters outside. The side fencing and wall is in disrepair and there was a wheel hub lying by the bins at the end of the drive. The house next door that is also a rental Read moreproperty is in excellent condition and even the drive has been jet washed, and the planters are all alive and kicking. On entering the house it smelt of musty dog and carried on through out the stay. The clean of the property was obviously done very quickly and under pressure as there were cobwebs and areas had clearly not been dusted. The cooker was definitely in need of an full clean and the last occupants or users of the cooker had left an oven tray in it still covered in oil. We had to use the washing machine but before doing so also had to clean out the soap dispenser as it was black from soap , and lack of any cleaning. One of the duvet covers I discovered although washed and ironed still had stains, hopefully tea or coffee and biro marks on it. Over all I found the property to be well below the standard I have become so used to with Coquet cottages, which was and is a great shame. Hide

Stayed here for two weeks, very impressed with the accommodation, first impressions count. We are regular visitors to Alnmouth, so glad of reasonable proximity to the beach and restaurants/pubs. On entering the property, it was evident the cleaning team had done a thorough job, it was clean and fresh; we were also very appreciative of the welcome pRead moreack, some nice touches, dogs also were given treats. The property is well resourced with ample crockery, glassware etc, although the pan handles were poorly insulated and got very hot. The complimentary toiletries were well received, also glad of the washing up liquid, but would have been useful to have had a surface/floor cleaner; also tea towels were provided, but not dishcloths, nor cleaning cloths, people generally like to leave a property as they found it. The garden was small, but dog proof, garden furniture was comfortable with weatherproof cushions, an ideal sun trap. Hide

Great location close to beach and amenities. Good for families and friends that prefer their own bathroom. Lovely bright property.

Lavender house is a very comfortable property with plenty of living space (there was only 2 of us), it was nice and clean on arrival and the hamper was a nice to have. Its location is excellent being only a few minutes walk from the village and beach. We would have liked a grab handle or shower mat in at least one of the bathrooms, and perhaps a doRead moreor mat to keep the entrance porch clean but these are small issues, we would definitely stay again.
