A gorgeous, stone hideaway, this Northumberland converted barn is perfect for couples or friends. Sleeping two guests, it offers one or two-bedroom accommodation from its setting just 2 miles from the centre of Alnwick. Head into town to potter in the shops, dine out or visit the castle. You might also like to wander through Alnwick Garden, with its bamboo labyrinth. Venture 5 miles to pretty Alnmouth, with its peaceful beaches. Pick up the Northumberland Coast Path here and head 7.5 miles out over cliffs and along sandy beaches to Craster, renowned for its famous smokehouse. Visit Amble, 8.5 miles away, with its colourful, harbour village of gift and food shops, to take a boat trip out to see the puffins. Scenic Warkworth Beach, 7.5 miles away, where you can picnic on the golden sand, gaze out to Coquet Island and hire rowing boats, is also a must during your stay.
Let yourselves in via the front door and hallway, where you can hang coats and leave walking boots or wellies. Head through to the open-plan kitchen/diner to make a cup of tea to enjoy with a slice of the traditional Northumberland stotty cake you have bought in town. With its vaulted ceiling and skylight windows, this bright, airy, country-style space is a pleasant place in which to cook, dine and relax together. Take two steep steps down to enter the lovely, double-height, beamed lounge. Here, windows and a glass door have been set into the old barn entrance, which opens up onto the courtyard to the front. Enjoy some downtime together in the lounge after choosing a book from the shelves or finding your favourite show on the Smart TV. Wooden, open-tread steps from the room ascend to the mezzanine level and a double bedroom, which may be used for alternative sleeping arrangements if discussed at booking. The main bedroom is at ground-floor level and is a charming space with a king-size bed and lots of storage. The family shower room is also downstairs.
Make the most of your private, enclosed garden on sunny days. Look out over the lawn as you dine at the bistro table or enjoy a few pages of your novel on the sun-soaked bench. There is private, allocated parking for two cars at the barn.
