An exquisite conversion forming part of a gorgeous, stone building that was once a school, this impeccable retreat offers exclusive accommodation in the centre of Alnwick. Beautifully finished, it sleeps four guests across two bedrooms and is perfect for couples eager to explore the bustling market town and its scenic Northumberland surroundings. Browse the colourful stalls in the cobbled marketplace, 350 metres away, wander the landscaped Alnwick Garden, 500 metres away, with its incredible fountains, and spend time at the castle, 0.5 miles away, which has featured many times in films and television programmes. Venture out of town to Howick Hall, 6 miles away, to experience the arboretum and delightful gardens. Spend a day on the coast at picture-postcard Alnmouth, 4.5 miles away, with its sandy beach, or Amble, 9 miles away, where you can book a seat on a cruise to see puffins, terns, kittiwakes and grey seals.

Step into the hall from the street and hang your coats in the cupboard before moving on into the magnificent, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This impressive, double-height space has been cleverly furnished with a mixture of elegant and colourful items, including chic drop lighting, to present both style and sophistication. Take a seat on the leather Chesterfield sofa to watch the Smart TV for a spell or pull the chair out from the antique desk to catch up on some work. Set the dining table beneath the original Georgian school windows for the celebratory feast you plan to serve later. The light kitchen has a modern style and has been carefully designed to ensure you have everything you need for whipping meals up right at your fingertips. One of your luxurious bedrooms, a king-size, with more sash windows and generous storage, is also downstairs, together with its en-suite shower room. Climb the stairs to the mezzanine level to find a second king-size bedroom that can be curtained off for privacy. This also has good storage and an en-suite shower room. Gaze up at the stars through the skylight window in here.

Enjoy your own private section of lawn on sunny days. Sit out on the bench or take the folding table and chairs outside so you can dine in the fresh air. There is private parking for one car with this property.

We had never visited the area and were looking for something different. This property Is ideally located and of a high quality. It enabled us to visit numerous locations in the region and the 'buzz' on Saturday was very good. A visit to the Tanners Arms is a must. Morpeth has the best shopping options. Beautifully converted building located in walking distance of Alnwick town centre. Great communication from Coquet staff before and during our stay. Lovely welcome hamper for us and the dog. Comfortable beds and tastefully furnished. Would look to return next year.

Lovely cottage, in a central location. Clean and beautifully decorated. Welcome hamper of locally sourced items was a lovely touch. Would definitely look at using Coquet cottages again, especially if all their cottages are of the same standard
