An enchanting woodland hideaway, this magical escape is perfect for those wishing to be at one with nature. Sleeping two guests, the one-bedroom, dog-friendly cottage sits among the trees on the edge of a country estate, 1 mile from Belford and 13.5 miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed. Wander the pretty streets of Belford to stock up on local produce, enjoy afternoon tea in a cafe and visit the museum. Follow a circular, 9.5-mile walk from Belford through farm and moorland to St Cuthbert’s Cave, where Lindisfarne monks are said to have taken St Cuthbert’s body in AD875 after Viking raids. Walk 3.5 miles to Waren Mill and Budle Bay to watch the waterfowl on the tidal lagoon. Head 4.5 miles to the picturesque beach at Ross Sands. Bamburgh Beach, with its dramatic castle, is 6.5 miles away. Venture 9.5 miles to Seahouses to take a boat trip out to the Farne Islands.

Step inside to hang your coats and leave your walking boots or beach shoes. Enter the two-storey property, which has been carefully finished to offer sumptuous accommodation with a lavish boutique hotel style. Head through to the lounge, where, thanks to great floor-to-ceiling windows, there is an abundance of natural light. Light the wood burner and absorb your glorious, leafy surroundings. From here, you may also catch glimpses of the coast at Budle Bay. Open the doors to the patio in the summer months, then settle on the soft seating to chat or watch the Smart TV. The kitchen/diner, which is up a couple of steps, boasts the luxury of a second wood burner, set into a stone fireplace and chimney breast. Here, you can enjoy its heat as you prepare romantic meals for two and sit down to dine together. There is a useful utility room, down two steps from the kitchen, plus a separate downstairs WC. As the day draws to a close, make your way up to the first floor of the hideaway, where your luxurious king-size bedroom is positioned. There is ample storage and space for a travel cot, should you have a little one with you. Glass double doors from the bedroom open into an opulent en-suite bathroom, with underfloor heating, an exposed stone wall and a gorgeous freestanding bath, plus a shower and WC.

The spellbinding garden is a wonderful extension to the cottage and the perfect place to while away sunny days. Let your four-legged friends explore the main enclosed area, but keep them on a lead in the adjacent woodland, where there is a pretty stream and it is open to the road. The colourful garden has different levels with steps. Dine on the patio or unwind on the deck. Take in the far-reaching views from the sofa in the garden room or use the telescope to examine the night sky. There is private parking for two cars.

The cottage was perfect for a relaxing few days and exploring Northumberland. Unfortunately due to availability we could only stay 3 nights. Everything was immaculate and clean. The kitchen was fully equipped and ideal for cooking meals. The garden room was relaxing with lovely views of the garden and woodland. The bed was very comfortable and the Read moreensuite modern, with a powerful shower. We loved the garden with various places to sit. The weather was good but wet in the evenings so we didnt use the garden room. Off road private parking with an ev charger was a bonus. Hide

Lovely location for visiting many attractions with beautiful views to the sea and Holy Island. The garden was beautiful although becoming rather overgrown so it was rather tricky to make our way to the fabulous garden room! Excellent welcome hamper too. This place is amazing! There are so many different aspects to it which, individually, would make it a wonderful place to stay, but to have them all in one property is perfection. The bed was incredibly comfy, the ensuite was beautifully decorated, the kitchen was well appointed and the living room was so relaxing with amazing views into the attacheRead mored forest. Any one of these would be enough for a great holiday. However, the real wow factor is the outdoor space. The tiered garden was fabulous, with many different seating areas, and topped of with the garden room at the top of the plot. The views from here are superb. I am running out suitable adjectives to describe this place. Suffice to say, we will be back as soon as we can. Thanks to our hosts for allowing us to stay here and being so responsive. P.S. our dog loved it too! Hide

A lovely well appointed cottage with all the 'mod cons', furnished as if it belonged to you. Welcome basket was a treat with lots of goodies as well as the essentials. Had a great week with unusually warm/dry weather (remote control velux windows were a saviour) Will definitely return. as an when time allows.
