An immaculate waterside retreat, this beautiful cottage nestles in a tranquil position in historic Warkworth. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom holiday home enjoys direct access to the path that runs alongside the River Coquet. From here, you can walk into the village, over the medieval bridge and to the spectacular sandy beach, less than 1 mile away, where you can picnic, paddle and swim in the sea. The ruins of Warkworth Castle are a 0.5-mile stroll. Wander 2 miles into Amble to peruse its colourful shops and pause for a bite to eat in one of its many eateries. It is also well worth spending time at the harbour here, where there is a unique collection of pod retail outlets selling arts, crafts, food and drink. From the harbour, you can also take a boat trip out to Coquet Island to see puffins and seals.
Enter the attractive house via the front door, leading into the hall, or the rear, where there is a useful utility room in which to leave your walking boots and wellies. The utility room, where there is a separate WC, opens into the fabulous kitchen/diner, which in turn flows through to a light-filled sunroom, with a vaulted ceiling and glass doors to the courtyard. Prepare meals for your party in the attractive kitchen as you look out over the river, hoping to glimpse some wildlife. Serve up at the wooden table, then take fresh coffee from the machine into the sunroom, where you can unwind and watch TV. A second TV can be found in the larger lounge to the front of the house. This room has a bay window with views of the pretty 14th-century church. Light the open fire in here on chilly evenings as you choose a film or challenge each other on the Nintendo Wii. Your three bedrooms are all up on the first floor of the cottage, together with the family bathroom with its beautiful freestanding bath and separate shower. The sumptuous bedrooms, a super-king-size, a king-size and a twin, are all exquisitely finished and made up with luxury bedding. Two of them have views out over the river.
Enjoy the fresh air out in the enclosed, gravel courtyard to the rear or the charming lawned garden to the front, which is also gated. Have a cup of tea at the table here on sunny afternoons before heading off for a walk beside the river. Parking for the cottage is on nearby streets, free of charge and subject to availability. Guests can load and unload beside the property.
