A sumptuous Northumberland hideaway set in peaceful Newton-on-the-Moor, this single-storey escape is perfect for country walks and days on the beach. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom, pet-friendly village house is 6 miles from Alnwick, with its magical castle and gardens, and its colourful array of independent shops and eateries. It is 7.5 miles from the beautiful beach at Warkworth, where you can picnic on the sand and splash in the sea. While you are here, you can also visit the medieval castle that overlooks the River Coquet. The small coastal town of Amble is 8.5 miles from the cottage. This also has a good selection of shops to potter in and places to dine out. You can also explore the Harbour Village, with its pod outlets, and book a trip out to Coquet Island to see the puffins and other seabirds. Follow the Northumberland Coast Path while you are here.
Enter the property via the front door which leads to all the beautifully finished living and sleeping accommodation. Wander through to the lounge/diner, where you can stoke up the open fire in the stone chimney breast. Settle on the comfortable seating in here to watch TV or listen to music via the hi-fi as you chat. There is also a good-sized table for gathering round for celebratory meals. Sliding doors from the lounge open into the conservatory. Retire to this space to enjoy your coffee as you gaze out over the verdant garden, with the doors open in the warmer months to bring in a cool breeze. The kitchen/diner, where there is another garden door, is a bright, friendly space that has been fitted out to ensure you can cater for your party with ease. Pull a chair out from the breakfast table to chat over a cup of tea or enjoy a light meal. There is a handy utility room too. The three impressive bedrooms can all be entered via the central hallway. These include two sumptuous double bedrooms, both with spectacular, travertine tiled en-suite bathrooms. One of these has a gorgeous free-standing bath, one step down from the main bathroom area. The third bedroom, a twin with zip-and-link beds that can be made into a super-king-size on request for an additional charge, has exclusive use of the family shower room, which is also finished in travertine, opposite.
Let the cares of the world lift from your shoulders as you unwind out in the sunny garden, which is south-facing to the rear. With lawns on three sides of the house, there is ample space for children and pets to play. Grown-ups can cook on the BBQ and dine on the patio as they savour the serenity and watch for wildlife. Please be aware that although the garden is enclosed, it does have a low wall so youngsters and pets should be supervised. There is private, off-road parking for three cars on the drive.
