A gorgeous stone cottage in the coastal village of Seahouses, this lovely retreat makes an idyllic Northumberland base. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom property is ideal for one or two families, as well as couples on a special getaway together. Walk 1 mile to the beautiful, long golden beach, which is popular for swimming, birdwatching and picnicking. Keen walkers might also like to strike out along the sand when the tide is out and venture to Bamburgh, 3 miles away. Here you can play golf, visit the Grace Darling Museum and explore the castle, which has become famous since appearing in the Last Kingdom television series. Make the most of the shops and eateries of Seahouses and book a puffin cruise out to the Farne Islands from the harbour. Plan a day out to Berwick-upon-Tweed, 22 miles away, with its bridges, Elizabethan walls and friendly pubs and restaurants serving seafood.

Let yourselves in via the hallway, where you can leave walking boots, and head through to the lounge, with its charming colour scheme, to while away some pleasant holiday time with your friends or family. This room, which has an elegant feature fireplace, housing a wood burner-effect gas fire, is the perfect place to chat or watch the Smart TV. Open the French doors to the patio in here so everyone can amble outside. The smaller second lounge opposite is perfect for those who want to enjoy something different on the Smart TV. There is also a Blu-Ray player, plus an Xbox 360, and books and games that the younger members of your household will love. The main lounge leads through to the bright kitchen/diner, a generous spacious room with everything the chef in your group is likely to require. There is also a good-sized oak table for your special feasts. Open the French windows in here too during summer meals. The two ground-floor bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, are in their own wing, accessed from the hallway. There is a door here to ensure privacy and peace. The king-size has an en-suite bathroom, while the family bathroom is opposite the twin. The two additional bedrooms, a super-king-size, with an en-suite bathroom, and a twin, with zip-and-link beds that can be made into a super-king-size on request, are up on the first floor, together with another family bathroom.

Step out into the charming, enclosed, mature garden. Dine out on the stone patio or sip cocktails under the veranda. Let the children play fetch with their four-legged friend on the lawn. There is private parking for up to three cars at the cottage, with additional on-street space close by, subject to availability.

This was a fantastic cottage, clean, tidy and sizeable, really comfortable for myself and 5 other adults, 2 dogs and a 2 year old. What was really super was all the extremely useful and well thought out cupboard contents. The toys available for our 2 year old were super and plenty of things for the adults too. The welcome basket was really lovely aRead morend useful. The dogs were also extremely well catered for. Also the free digital guide was so useful, really super and we used it a lot. You'll also find really useful notes around the house to help you get the most out of the house. I couldn't recommend this cottage enough. Hide

What a great find! This cottage provided perfect accommodation for a multi generational stay to celebrate a milestone birthday. The toys were a big hit with the grandchildren and the snug provided a peaceful area as well. We would definitely book this cottage again.

We were very impressed with this house...perfect for a family with mixed age groups. The young kids loved the toys and we appreciated the well equipped kitchen and amount of fridge space. Fantastic location too...one mile walk to the beach and a bit less into town.

Sandpiper is an stunning cottage. Spacious and well appointed. Very clean and immaculately presented, we felt right at home. Ideal for family and group of friends. All 4 bathrooms have showers. Ideally situated in a quiet village farm development. The garden is secluded, private and an excellent suntrap. Highly recommended
