A striking, three-storey house in an enviable position in Alnmouth, this holiday house captures commanding views right across the picturesque estuary. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom period property, which still retains its original grandeur, is just 100 metres from the beach and water’s edge. It is also just 350 metres from the Northumberland Coast Path with its fabulous walks. Browse the delightful shops of pretty Alnmouth and dine out in welcoming pubs and restaurants. Venture 5 miles inland to Alnwick for a broader selection of outlets and eateries. While you are here, tour the castle, which famously appeared in the Harry Potter movies, and wander the exquisite Alnwick Garden, with its incredible fountains. Drive 6.5 miles to Amble to potter in its Harbour Village and book a puffin and seal-watching cruise out on the open sea. Warkworth, with its medieval castle and beautiful, sandy beach, is 5 miles away.

Climb 11 steps up to enter via the shared front door to this gorgeous stone house. Open a second door to your private quarters, then hang your coats and bags in the hall. Follow the impressive staircase up to the first floor of the house, where a wide hall leads to all the main accommodation. Head into the lounge and find yourself mesmerised by the spectacular views out across the water from the west-facing windows. Light the open fire on chilly days and settle on one of the soft sofas to watch the Smart TV or play a game together. Take two steps down from the hall to enter the kitchen/diner, which has been fitted out to make catering for your party as easy as possible. There is also a breakfast bar here where you can perch on a stool and sip a cup of fresh coffee from the machine. The dining room, which has a door to the balcony, sits between the lounge and kitchen/diner. Enjoy your meals at the heavy wooden table in here as you gaze out over the estuary. One of your bedrooms, super-king-size, with an en-suite shower room, Smart TV, Xbox and zip-and-link beds that can be made into a twin on request, is also at this level. Head on up to the second floor to find three more bedrooms, a king-size and two doubles, all with good storage. The impressive family bathroom, where you can refresh yourselves under the rainfall shower or with a long soak in the beautiful bath, is two steps down from the landing.

Savour the sea air and sunshine from the elegant wrought-iron balcony. Dine out here as you take in the far-reaching views. There is private parking for two cars on a shared driveway, additional on-street space, subject to availability.
