Venture 6.5 miles to Amble to wander the Harbour Village or book a puffin and seal-watching cruise on the open sea. The property itself is west-facing, offering uninterrupted views of the beach and estuary, with a traditional iron balcony perfect for watching sunsets over the dunes. Sleeping up to eight guests, Sandy Shores occupies the top-left portion of the original Prudhoe Villas, a grand Victorian property spread across three floors, with each level offering unique views of the beach and estuary. Enter your private quarters, through the internal door, then hang your coats and bags in the hall. Follow the impressive staircase up to the first floor of the house, where a wide hall leads to all the main accommodation. Head into the lounge and find yourself mesmerised by the spectacular views out across the water from the west-facing windows. Light the open fire on chilly days and settle on one of the soft sofas to watch the Smart TV or play a game together. Take two steps down from the hall to enter the kitchen/diner, which has been fitted out to make catering for your party as easy as possible. There is also a breakfast bar here where you can perch on a stool and sip a cup of fresh coffee from the machine, as well as a further small TV. The dining room, which has a door to the balcony, sits between the lounge and kitchen/diner. Enjoy your meals at the heavy wooden table in here as you gaze out over the estuary. One of your bedrooms, super-king-size, with an en-suite shower room, Smart TV, Xbox and zip-and-link beds that can be made into a twin on request, is also at this level. Head on up to the second floor to find three more bedrooms, a king-size and two doubles, all with good storage. The impressive family bathroom, where you can refresh yourselves under the rainfall shower or with a long soak in the beautiful bath, is two steps down from the landing.
Built by the Duke of Prudhoe as the first house on Riverside Road, the home retains its historic character with period details throughout. Practical amenities include private parking for two cars (a rarity in Alnmouth) and dog-friendly accommodation for two pets. Families will also appreciate the nearby play park with a BBQ area. Combining classic seaside charm with modern comfort, Sandy Shores offers an exceptional coastal retreat, whether you are strolling along the sand, sampling local cuisine, or simply soaking up the sun and sunsets from the balcony.
