This charming 19th-century cottage enjoys a prime position in Warkworth, just 1 mile from the Northumberland coast. The one-bedroom cottage is full of homely touches and makes the perfect base for a romantic getaway. Head out of your front door to explore the ancient village of Warkworth, which boasts artisan stores, boutiques, and gift shops, as well as cosy pubs and restaurants. The cottage sits on the River Coquet, and you can join the scenic Mill Walk which follows the waterway around the village. Those seeking a slice of history can visit Warkworth Castle and Hermitage, just 0.5 miles away, or for a day at the beach wander down to the wide expanse of golden sand, 1 mile from the cottage. Journey 2 miles along the coast to visit the vibrant harbour town of Amble, with its famous retail pods, fish shacks, and regular boat trips to Coquet Island.
Step inside the cottage, where you’ll be greeted by a spacious lounge on your left. This room has a bright, cheerful colour scheme and still retains many of its original features, including exposed beams running across the ceiling. A cute collection of accessories creates a home-from-home vibe and there’s a shelf full of books for you to peruse, as well as a dining table for sharing romantic dinners together. Spend time in here, stretched out on one of the plump sofas to watch TV in the glow of the cosy wood burner. Up a few steps and along the hallway, you’ll find the galley-style kitchen, which is equipped with everything needed for a self-catering getaway. Share morning coffees together at the breakfast bar, as you plan the day’s itinerary. Completing this level is a stylish bathroom with complimentary bathrobes. Upstairs, an elegant king-size bedroom awaits, with dual-aspect windows overlooking the river and Warkworth’s rooftops. This room also has an en-suite WC for your convenience.
Outside, to the rear of the cottage, there is a courtyard that is owned by the neighbouring holiday home. When not in use, guests are welcome to dine alfresco at the table and chairs. Please note, the courtyard is a dog-free zone, other than for access to and from the rear lane. On-street parking is less than 100 metres away, subject to availability.
