Set in the peaceful hamlet of Glororum, this is a stylish and romantic retreat that’s perfect for couples or a young family. The beautiful coastal town of Bamburgh is just a mile away, its imposing castle visible from the cottage. There’s a great range of shops and eateries here, along with the Grace Darling Museum and a sweeping sandy beach. The historic fishing village of Seahouses (4 miles) is the departure point for boats to the wildlife-rich Farne Islands, while the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, reached via a tidal causeway, is just 16.5 miles north.

Set in a small complex of converted farm buildings, this cosy abode has been beautifully styled with soft, modern tones and cosy cushions, throws and artworks. Set beneath a vaulted and beamed ceiling, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area is light and airy with large patio doors leading to the courtyard. Two plush sofas frame the modern gas fire and Smart TV, with Bamburgh Castle visible in the distance, while the smart, contemporary kitchen and farmhouse-style dining table offers everything needed for easy, informal meals. With a king-size bed and integrated wardrobe, the master bedroom has a boutique-style feel with patterned wallpaper, plush bedding and a large armchair. A cosy single room is decorated in a cool, coastal style, while the sleek bathroom has a walk-in shower and separate bath, along with luxurious complimentary toiletries.

The New Dairy was a great base and the weather was kind so we were able to do lots of beach walks and get our steps in. The cottage had everything we needed to do a bit of self catering and enjoy some lovely meals out in Bamburgh without having to use the car.

Easy to find. Parking convenient. Lovely accommodation and welcome basket. Kitchen well supplied with everything needed for self catering. Seating in lounge area very comfortable. Slept well, bed comfortable. My only problem was stopping the shower water getting on to bathroom floor.

Our stay at the New Dairy was great by almost all measures. The single issue is related to its location (which admittedly cant be changed). On our first day we walked from the cottage to Bamburgh down the road, which clearly is the shortest way. However we felt that although the road can take two cars there is no room for pedestrians, no footpath oRead morer room by hedges. Most drivers were considerate and slowed / stopped if necessary, but there were a few who felt doing 50mph only inches from pedestrians was OK, clearly dangerous and pretty scary. Although there is a comment along the lines of walking in daytime would be OK I feel you should recommend not walking down the road, day or night. Hide

The settees and bed werent the most comfortable. The large dining table is too big for a property sleeping 2-3 people and is a little restrictive to get around. On the plus side the cottage was always warm and in a nice quiet location with a lovely view of the castle, the welcoming hamper was A1.
