One of a group of five historic former farmworkers’ cottages, this delightful cottage is named after the hares that can be seen hopping in the tranquil cornfields opposite. Offering cosy accommodation for up to four guests, the property makes a great base for eager walkers, beach lovers and nature spotters exploring a stunning part of the majestic Northumberland countryside. The thriving village of Warkworth (4 miles) has a choice of pubs and eateries, as well as an impressive castle and a long, secluded sandy beach. Heading north, the vibrant market town of Alnwick (8 miles) is home to the stunning Alnwick Castle and the spectacular Alnwick Garden. To the south, there’s a range of popular attractions and landmarks including Northumberland Zoo, Brinkburn Priory and Manor House, and the site of Lordenshaw Hill Fort along the eastern edge of the magnificent Northumberland National Park, all within 16 miles.

Entering this fresh and inviting cottage you will find yourself immediately in the light and thoughtfully arranged kitchen/diner. The stylish organised kitchen is fully equipped, with plenty of storage and workspace, and sits alongside the charming dining area with an oak refectory table and pew seating. Heading through, the welcoming and cosy lounge is an ideal space for everyone to unwind in, with picturesque views, a roaring wood burner, a TV and ample seating. Heading upstairs, the first floor has a stylish shower room featuring an elegant walk-in shower with a rainfall shower head and additional handheld shower attachment. You will also have a choice of three bright and airy bedrooms upstairs. The first is a lovely double room with country views through the characterful window which has an original window seat. The second bedroom is a sweet bunk bedroom suitable for children under 12, or for an adult sleeping on the lower bunk. Finally a quiet single room has low sloping ceilings and overlooks the gardens.

Stepping outside, the front courtyard is a fresh and relaxing spot with garden furniture, perfect for a morning coffee or for a quiet drink in the evening. The property also has a garage which serves as a heated utility room with a freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and storage space. A private parking space is available in front of the patio area, with an additional space next to the garage. Both are within 50 metres from the front door.

The cottage was ideal for our stay with our dog. Out in the countryside but also withiin easy access to a beach - Warkworth Dunes were the nearest.

Hopping Hare Cottage is idyllic, wonderful accommodation, fantastic views and plenty of wildlife on the fields opposite. Aptly named, the hares appeared every day, always a treat. The cottage itself is very comfortable, and well equipped. Within easy reach of the fabulous Northumbrian beaches and castles, this is an excellent base for exploring theRead more area. Hide
