We loved returning to The Shiel. It's a great location and the property is so well kitted out with all we could ask for and more, especially the welcome basket bonus. Thank you so much.

The cottage is in a great location, close to the A1 so you have easy access up to the Scottish Borders as well as the coast and countryside of Northumberland. The cottage is well equipped and offers a great selection of books and leaflets to tell you more about the local area. The visiting house martins were wonderful as is the rest of the wildlifeRead more around the property. The views are lovely and far reaching, waking up and looking out to the view and hearing the sheep was bliss. We had a fantastic visit to Northumberland and the cottage was a great base to explore the surrounding area. We even took a trip to Edinburgh, taking the train from Berwick Upon Tweed. Hide

The Sheil was a comfortable, well equipped and spacious base in a lovely rural area within easy reach of the coast, A1 and Alnwick working well for our week rediscovering this beautiful area. The super king sized bed and sofas were deeply comfortable, the cottage was warm and we enjoyed the log burner (plentiful supply of logs provided) on the few Read morewet, chilly evenings. The weather was mixed but didnt stop us enjoying Cragside, Alnwick Gardens and Treehouse for lunch, Alnmouth, landing boat trip to Inner Farne in glorious sunshine with Serenity Boats, walks from Low Newton and all the bird life including the delightful nesting house martins. The welcome pack and log supply was much appreciated as was the post arrival phone call from Jon, the owner which helped resolve an issue with the downstairs bathroom. Hide

We had a lovely stay at The Sheil. Nature right on your doorstep, we saw plenty of hares and deer on our daily walks from the property. Close to many local attractions, so a great base for a weekend away. We would definitely return.

Cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Lovely views across the fields. Helpful call from host when we arrived. Welcome pack with essentials was a nice touch. Very close to lots of lovely coastal villages. Would highly recommend.
