The property lies within the northern outskirts of Warkworth, a characterful village with a choice of great places to eat and drink, as well as attractions including a medieval castle, a 9-hole golf course and a gorgeous sandy beach. Taking a scenic stroll south along the Coquet Estuary you can visit the charming fishing town of Amble (2.5 miles), known for its Sunday harbour market and a range of fabulous seafood restaurants. Heading north, the historic town of Alnwick (7.5 miles) is famous for its magnificent castle and the spectacular Alnwick Garden. Other local attractions include Northumberland Zoo, Dunstanburgh Castle and Brinkburn Priory, all within 17 miles. A flight of seven external stone steps leads down to the entrance of this characterful holiday residence. Inside, a welcoming entrance hall has plenty of space for boots and coats, with quick access to a convenient WC and a utility room perfect for washing muddy paws. Exploring this floor further, the quaint light-filled lounge has ample seating and a TV, with wooden flooring and French doors, providing an ideal space for everyone to unwind in after a great day out. A couple of steps lead down from the lounge and into the spacious and elegantly organised open-plan kitchen/diner. The central dining table is perfect for hosting family get-togethers, and sits beside an impressive traditional redbrick fireplace which houses a wood burner effect gas fire. This inviting room also has a couple of armchairs, while the kitchen has a handy additional breakfast bar and a wealth of storage space and equipment. Heading upstairs you will find three delightful bedrooms. The first has a lovely king-size bed and an en-suite shower room, with patio doors leading out onto a quiet lawn. The second bedroom is a twin, again with a refreshing en-suite shower room, and the final bedroom is a cheerful double. The accommodation is rounded off with a soothing family bathroom with a bath, walk-in shower and WC.

Stepping outside, the surrounding gardens have a choice of seating areas and relaxing spaces. Firstly, there’s a charming lawn bordered by colourful shrubbery, with a furnished patio offering an ideal spot for dining alfresco. The cottage was great. Very comfortable and well equipped and brilliant location with bach, river, castle and numerous restaurants and cafes within easy reach. We were there without a car and that was fine. Got the bus to Amble when we needed groceries.

This was our first family holiday in Northumberland and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beachcomber, has been refurbished to a very high standard, whilst in-keeping with the charm of the building. Its location was spot-on for us - 10 minutes walk to miles of the beautiful sandy beach, or half an hour along the costal path to Amble. A quick drivRead moree to other surrounding villages and not long to get to Lindisfarne. With much more to do and Beachcomber being a perfect fit for our family, weve already booked again for next year Hide
