Trips to the beautiful Farne Islands can be taken from nearby Seahouses, 10 miles away, where vast colonies of seals, puffins and other seabirds can be seen up close, a haven for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Bamburgh also offers many cycle routes for walkers exploring St Cuthbert’s Way (20 miles). Culture vultures can uncover local history at 16th-century Lindisfarne Castle, 16 miles away, which, at low tide, can be reached on foot via a paved, tidal causeway.

Featuring quirky touches including a bright, bold colour palette and a repurposed London Underground route map as the dining table surface, the spacious kitchen/diner is a haven for budding chefs, equipped with everything required to rustle up something delicious. Framed by a large set of bi-fold doors looking out to the distant coastline, the spacious lounge has been designed with relaxation in mind, and features a stylish electric fire that adds charm and warmth. As well as the dining space in the kitchen, there is a large dining table set within the lounge, offering spectacular views across the decking down to Budle Bay through the bi-fold doors. During the warmer months, open out the bi-fold doors to make the most of indoor/outdoor living. The delightful snug provides a wonderfully quiet spot to catch up on a good book, whilst the stunning cinema room, boasting reclining cinema-style seats and a projector screen, provides the ultimate family film night experience. There’s also a handy utility room on the ground floor. Upstairs on the first floor, you’ll find four bedrooms, with the spacious en-suite king-size boasting magnificent floor-to-ceiling windows, with rural views out to Budle Bay. We all had a wonderful stay in Shepherds cottage! We were a family group of 6 adults and 3 children aged 9, 3 and 7 mths. There was room for us all. The children loved the large and secure garden and the cinema room. There were tears when we had to leave! The owners couldnt have been more helpful when we had a minor issue with one of the showers. WRead moree all commented on the interior design - lovely The Coquet app was a great help with all the info you could possibly need. Will definitely return. Hide
