Alnwick is a captivating base for discovering Northumberland. Wander historic streets and browse pokey independent shops before settling in a characterful cafe for tea and cake. The impressive Alnwick Castle (0.3 miles) overlooks a maze of cobbled lanes, while the unusual Alnwick Garden (0.5 miles) offers a bamboo labyrinth and a mesmerising rose garden. Time your visit right, and you can browse fresh produce and artisan treats that reflect the area's strong food heritage at the town's biweekly farmers' market. A short walk from the town centre brings you to Hulne Park (0.5 miles), where thick woodlands and quiet ruins feel wonderfully untamed. For a day at the coast, Alnmouth Beach, Howdiemont Sands, and Sugar Sands are all within 7 miles, offering you plenty of options for a traditional day at the seaside.

Step inside the light and bright atrium and catch the lift to the second floor, where you'll discover the entrance to your pretty bolthole. Enter into the open-plan living space where you can crash out on the three-seater sofa or unwind in the armchair. Watch your favourite shows on the Smart TV before using the helpful amenities to whip up a feast in the kitchen. There is a central dining table to gather around, which overlooks the garden below. At bedtime, there are two bedrooms to choose from. The king-size bed is modern and opens out to a balcony, which is a joy for enjoying breakfast in bed. The super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom (can be made into a twin on request) is decorated with crisp linens, pops of colour and offers plenty of storage. The bathroom is stylish and is perfect for those late-night soaks in the tub.

Enjoy a glass of wine before dinner or a freshly percolated coffee on the west-facing balcony. Curl up with a book on the bench or watch the sun creep behind the trees. Bike storage is available in the car park. The property benefits from private parking for 1 car, but nearby public parking is available.

Our second stay and the standard has been maintained. Lovely clean apartment in a quiet spot, handy for supermarket with the bus station minutes away. Restaurants and pubs close by. We loved the welcome hamper with good quality food. We would love to come back, it would be nice if the shower temperature could be less temperamental and the banging nRead moreoise when first switched on could be addressed. Everything else was good. The Atrium apartment was exceptionally clean and well equipped. Its in a great location being within a few minutes walk from a choice of restaurants and a supermarket across the road. Alnwick is well located for all Northumberland has to offer. I would use Coquet again as their customer service is 5 star!

Excellent all round. Alnwick is a great base for the Northumberland coast and places to visit inland, plus a delightful and interesting town in which to stay Pet-free and designated parking place - perfect!
