Nestled in the charming village of Chatton, this luxurious holiday home makes an ideal base for a group of eight guests seeking to see the coast and countryside. When you're not having gourmet pub lunches at the nearby pub (150m), venture further into the village to find a children's playground and a village store for picking up culinary ingredients. Less than 2 miles away is the ghostly corridors of Chillingham Castle, where tours can get you in the supernatural mood, or walk in the footsteps of the Kings of Northumbria at the coastal Bamburgh Castle (11 miles). You could even play a round of golf here, or visit the beach. Alternatively, dock from the lively seaside village of Seahouses (12 miles) and experience a boat trip over to the Farne Islands, where visitors have excellent opportunities to spot puffins, guillemots, razorbills and seals.

Admire your charming stone facade before stepping inside this village getaway. This peaceful property offers a reverse-level design to maximise the social spaces, including the grand first-floor lounge, where guests are beckoned to unwind on the comfy sofas while taking in the character features, such as the high ceiling, exposed beams and warming wood burner. Browse through Netflix, Sky, or Amazon Prime until you find something to watch, then use the oak-made cabinets in the kitchen to prepare a buffet of Northumberland delicacies. Sitting in the centre of the room is the dining table, seating eight. Continuing on this floor is one of four well-appointed bedrooms; a pretty light-flooded bedroom with twin beds and access to a fully tiled family bathroom. Head back down to the ground floor to find the remaining three bedrooms: a peaceful twin and two welcoming king-size rooms, each offering a restful retreat after busy days. With two en-suite shower rooms on this floor, mornings are made easy, and there's never a wait to freshen up.

A postcard-pretty enclosed garden is a delight at any time of day, and dining furniture is also available for alfresco dining. From April and September, fire up the BBQ for long lunches in the sun. There is ample parking available here as well, with four private parking spaces.

I cant recommend The Hayloft highly enough. We really just wanted to live there! It is situated in a very pretty Northumberland village, easy to find with ample car parking. The house itself was beautifully designed and furnished - a great deal of thought had been put into comfort and we wanted for nothing. There was absolutely nothing to find faulRead moret on and we wanted for to return! Hide

The Hayloft gave us everything we could ask for. We were a party of 5 adults and two children and Chatton was a perfect base to explore this side of the country, albeit a few miles from the coast. We have enjoyed Northumberland many times over the years and the Hayloft has probably offered us one of the best accommodations we have experienced in thRead moreis part of the area. Hide
