Make memories to last a lifetime in this truly unique holiday home on the edge of Northumberland National Park. The detached period property sleeps up to 20 guests across ten luxurious bedrooms and is the perfect setting to celebrate special occasions with friends and family. The pet-friendly holiday retreat sits within the idyllic Tarset Valley, and you’ll have a myriad of walking and cycling routes from your front door, as well as easy access to the long-distance Pennine Way. The property is also just 20 miles from Kielder Water and Forest Park, with its extensive range of water sports and outdoor adventure activities. Much of the Tarset Valley falls within Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, so be sure to head outside on a clear night to see if you can spot the Milky Way or Andromeda Galaxy. For shopping and eating out, the picturesque riverside town of Bellingham is just 7 miles away.

The fortified farmhouse has been lovingly transformed into a luxury holiday retreat boasting vast social spaces and sweeping views across the dense forest that envelops the property. Rustic and quirky features, such as exposed stone walls and arched windows, sit seamlessly alongside contemporary design elements, beautiful artwork, and carefully selected accessories, all of which come together to create an unforgettable backdrop to your rural getaway. Take the steps to the front door of the East Wing and into the spacious hallway, where you can store all your outdoor attire. From here, impressive double doors lead through to the social heart of the house: a striking lounge with wood-panelled walls, plush leather sofas, and far-reaching vistas. At the far end of the room is a bar area where you can sit with your favourite tipple and catch up with friends after an action-packed day. In summer months, throw open the French doors to the balcony to further extend the social space. Also on the ground floor is a magnificent farmhouse-style kitchen/diner, equipped with high-end appliances to create delicious, home-cooked feasts for the group. Enjoy hearty breakfasts together at the informal dining area next to the cosy wood burner or come together for lively dinner parties at the banquet-style table in the formal dining room. The ground floor is also home to a TV/games room, where younger members of the group can hang out and watch the Smart TV or you can use the ordnance survey maps to plan your next outdoor adventure.

The property has five ground-floor bedrooms, all with beautiful wooden furniture and calming decor that reflects the surrounding landscape. The first is a family room with a king-size bed and wooden paddle stairs leading to a mezzanine floor with two single beds. This room also benefits from an en-suite wet room. The next is a king-size bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and French doors leading to the balcony. Rounding off this level is a single bedroom and two twin bedrooms. All three of these bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms (please note, there is a step up to the en-suite in one of the twin bedrooms). On the first floor, you’ll find a further two bedrooms: a single with an en-suite shower room and a king-size bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. These bedrooms have steps leading to the balcony – a lovely spot for a morning coffee overlooking the valley or stargazing on a balmy night.

The remaining bedrooms are accessed via the courtyard, where you’ll find an open-tread staircase leading to the property’s West Wing. Once inside, discover three bright and inviting bedrooms: a king-size and two twin bedrooms, all with en-suite shower rooms and two with balconies.

Outside, you’ll have a fantastic choice of areas for outdoor entertaining or relaxing in the sunshine. Accessed from the lounge/bar, there’s a ground-floor balcony with outdoor seating – the ideal place for a sundowner on a warm, summer’s evening. At first-floor level, you’ll find a second, larger balcony with breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside and a perfect location for stargazing come nightfall. Back at ground level, there’s a large dining table in the main garden for enjoying al fresco meals as a group, with further seating options dotted throughout the enclosed courtyard. There are large lawns for family picnics and playing outdoor games, and guests are also invited to explore the wider, 60-acre estate, with its network of tracks and trails through open countryside and ancient woodlands. The property has private parking for ten cars.

This is an amazing location with lots of room for a large family. There are a few tired areas but you can see the owners are working there way around with improvements.
