Sleeping up to 6, this gorgeous cottage is nestled within the honey stone development of former farm buildings at Glororum – with beautiful views out to the countryside, Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands beyond.

There is a large, well-maintained enclosed garden and the picturesque village of Bamburgh is within walking distance with a great range of great pubs, restaurants, shops, the renowned Grace Darling Museum, Bamburgh Castle and Bamburgh beach. What more could you desire in a holiday cottage?

Overview

In a tranquil and peaceful location just 1 mile from the centre of Bamburgh yet still in view of the fabulous scenery of the castle and coastline, Cheviot House sleeps up to 6. Sorry but we are unable to accommodate pets at this cottage.

With an open plan living and kitchen area, the cottage is spacious for a family to spread out and not feel crowded. The gardens are large and wrap around the property giving views of both the Cheviots and the castle and coastline in the opposite direction. The whole cottage is also all on one level, perfect for our less mobile guests.

 

Entrance

The front entrance leads to a spacious and bright hallway, which in turn leads to the open plan kitchen and lounge, dining room and utility room.

Kitchen and Lounge

The kitchen is spacious and luxurious, with views out to the castle from one of the windows. The kitchen is open plan to the lounge with a wall-mounted fire and large, glass french doors leading out to the front garden. The cottage also has SKY Multiroom too.

Laundry Room

The laundry room can be accessed from outside as well as from the kitchen, which is perfect for keeping muddy boots and wet dogs! The laundry room houses a washer/dryer, a sink and cupboard storage, as well as a cloakroom.

Dining Room

A beautiful room, beautifully furnished, with windows overlooking the patio garden.

Master Bedroom with en suite

The master bedroom is at the furthest point of the house. There is a super king size bed (6ft) in the room with an en suite and plenty of storage. Luxury bed linen and fluffy towels provided. The en suite has a large shower, WC, wash hand basin and heated towel rail.

Second Bedroom

This bedroom has a king size (5ft) bed in with views out to the garden. Luxury bed linen and fluffy towels provided.

 

Third Bedroom – Twin Room

Two full size (3ft) single beds with a full length glass door leading out to the garden, and a small flat-screen TV too.

Family Bathroom

The family bathroom has a bath, separate shower cubicle with a slight step up to the tray, WC and wash hand basin, with a heated towel rail. Luxury toiletries are provided.

 

Gardens

The gardens at Cheviot House are large and very well maintained. There is the back garden with a patio and table and chairs, and the front garden with views out to The Cheviots and the Farne Islands.

 

Parking

There is private off-road parking for up to 4 cars in a parking area adjacent to the private garage to the front of Cheviot House (the garage itself is not available).

There is a BBQ provided at Cheviot House, which is available all year round. There are utensils and a starter amount of charcoal provided. Please ensure the BBQ is cleaned prior to your departure.

Accessibility
Accommodation all on one level. There is one shallow step up to the front door and then everything is on ground floor.  The master bedroom has a walk-in shower and the family bathroom has a bath and separate shower cubicle.

About Bamburgh

Bedrooms
Two double bedrooms; 1 with a super-king-bed (6ft wide) and 1 with a king-size bed (5ft wide). One twin bedroom with two 3ft wide single beds. All bedding hypoallergenic.

Bathroom
One family bathroom with a large bath and separate shower, WC and wash basin. One shower room en suite to the master bedroom, with a shower, WC and basin. Towels and luxury The White Company toiletries provided.

Facilities
Fridge/freezer, electric oven and gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle. Washer/dryer, iron, ironing board and vacuum. Hairdryer, books, music and films. Gas effect fire in the lounge.

Mod Cons
TV in the lounge with Freeview, SKY Multiroom and DVD player. TV also in the twin bedroom. Music System, free unlimited Wi-Fi.

Care of the Property
Our ‘Coquet’ cottages are much-loved privately-owned holiday homes into which our owners have lavished much care and investment to create beautiful places for their guests to enjoy. We therefore require a cautionary Good Housekeeping Deposit to protect our owners’ property, so that if damage/breakages occur or exceptional cleaning over and above the usual changeover clean is required up to the value of the deposit, the owner can be recompensed.

At Cheviot House, you have the option of paying either a £200 refundable Good Housekeeping Deposit or a smaller non-refundable 34 Deposit Waiver, which covers you to the value of £200.  Please choose which option you prefer when booking.  Click HERE for more information.

Cheviot House is situated within a prestigious development of former farm buildings crafted from the local whin-stone, in a hamlet called Glororum, just 1 mile inland from the coastal village of Bamburgh. There are country walks straight from your doorstep and you can walk into Bamburgh village and to the beach (road unlit at night).

Bamburgh village is a picturesque Northumbrian village, with its breathtaking castle taking centre stage and the Farne Islands viewed closely behind – you can take a boat trip there from Seahouses with Billy Shiel’s boat tours.  There a several excellent pubs, restaurants, cafe’s and little shops for you to browse around, and the huge golden sandy beach – used as a location in many blockbuster films – wrapping around the castle is unmissable.

Tips from a local

Walk or drive to Bamburgh village and then walk from Bamburgh beach around the Budle Bay. The bay is full of wildlife at all times of the year and is a stunning expanse of golden sandy beach when the tide is out. On your way back to Bamburgh, admire the magnificent castle on the headland.

Tips from a local

Take a boat tour out to the Farne Islands with Billy Shiel’s boat trips. This is a must when you come to Northumberland, especially as you are so close to Seahouses. The tours leave from Seahouses harbour and sail all around the Farne Islands.  Some stop at the islands where you can get off the boat and have a tour by one of the local rangers, and each boat tour differs depending on the season and what is nesting/breeding around the island. Billy Shiel’s tours are the largest operator in the town, still ran by all the members of the Shiel family who are the most knowledgeable about the area. Make sure you book in advance as they are incredibly popular, especially after being featured on the popular TV series with Robson Green’s ‘Tales from Northumberland’!

Situated on the wild Northumberland Moors, just a short drive away from The Granary, Ros Hill has a great rural atmosphere and at the right time of year covered in beautiful vibrant purple heather.

We fell in love with Bamburgh several years ago when we used to stay at Farne View, renting through Coquet Cottages and didn’t hesitate in investing in Cheviot View when it became available to buy, it’s such a beautiful property and we’ve furnished it to feel like a home-from-home, with comfort and relaxation in mind.

The area is an ideal location for all types of fun.  Personally we love to walk down into Budle bay and along the beach to Bamburgh, calling in for a coffee at one of the lovely cafes along the main street, or maybe a beer or two if the mood takes us, the pubs are very welcoming.

With Seahouses just 10 minutes away and Alnwick 20 minutes south there is such a wide range of things of interest, from historic attractions to great restaurants and pubs.
