Overall, the cottage was extremely beautiful and comfortable and much nicer than the photographs on the website, and they were lovely to start with! The kitchen was the star of the show. The location was excellent as we loved walking from the front door down the ‘Lover’s Walk’ estuary path to the beach and back through the village.Escape the ordinary read our guest book
Tips from a local
Have a chilled day on Alnmouth Beach. Take a picnic hamper, flask of tea, bucket and spade and kite and enjoy a traditional seaside afternoon on the stunning Northumberland coastline. The beach can be reached at the end of Alnmouth’s main street and only 10 minutes walk from the cottage.
Tips from a local
Head over the road to The Old School Gallery and view the stunning exhibitions of local artists, have a browse around the gift shop, and relax with a brew and slice of cake in the cosy tea room.
Tips from a local
Head up to Barter Books in Alnwick (about 3 1/2 miles from the cottage) which is an old Victorian train station converted into the most fabulous bookstore, about 10 minutes’ walk from the cottage. Every book you can imagine is here, even some very valuable first additions on display. They have a lovely café converted from the old waiting rooms in the station if you wanted a nibble and something hot to drink. You can bring old/unwanted books into Barter Books and exchange them for credits so you can buy something new (or old!) to take home. Pick a good book and get settled in front of one of their many open fires. Dogs and snoozing welcome!
We asked Kat what she loves about Estuary Cottage…
“Sat right by the mouth of the River Aln, Estuary Cottage is in a perfect location for river and beach walks and with the amenities on the village main street just 5 minutes’ away, it’s an ideal spot for a Northumberland cottage break.
The cottage itself combines luxury and comfort, with high quality décor throughout, creating a cosy and homely feel from the second you step inside. Estuary Cottage is an excellent base for both families and adult groups, especially with the en-suite bathroom and large dining area, and the back garden with the raised decking is a fantastic suntrap for evening meals and drinks after a summer’s day at the beach.
I like best the location of the cottage, regardless of the season, as the beach is really easy to get to and the pubs are really friendly. You can take your dog in The Sun and The Red Lion too!”
