Fieldside House is a gorgeous stone-built family home sleeping 8 guests in the Northumberland countryside village of pretty Chatton. Sitting at the end of a peaceful new development within the village, Fieldside House is ideal for large families, couples holidaying together and great for multi-generations too. If you’re searching for peace and quiet and to really switch off, this is the perfect place to do so.
With huge windows around the ground floor and a significant garden to enjoy, views over the fields to the resident ponies is very tranquil, yet the highly-recommended pub, The Percy Arms, is just 5 minutes easy stroll down the road. Within 15 minutes you can drive to the foot of the Cheviots, or within 20 minutes you will reach the historic village of Bamburgh with its magnificent castle standing between the village and the beach. 1 dog is very welcome to Fieldside House.

Peaceful Fieldside House is positioned within a new development in the idyllic country village of Chatton. This quiet spot is ideal for children as it’s a safe space to play out. Fieldside House sleeps 8 guests in 4 bedrooms; 2 king size rooms and 2 twin single rooms – both of the twin single bedrooms can be converted into super-king beds.
Fieldside House welcomes 1 dog over 1 year in age and well-behaved. Whilst the garden is not enclosed to the driveway and out to the close, the lawned area is a great space for playing. The open-plan feel of the house is perfect for larger groups looking to spend quality time together. Free Wi-Fi as standard.
The entrance to Fieldside House is very pleasant, with an open porch sheltered and ideal for taking shoes off at the door! As you enter the house straight into the small hallway, you can store shoes and coats here and the cloakroom WC is accessed from here too. Parking is available right outside the property. The driveway is graveled.
A solid oak door leads from the hallway into the bright and airy lounge. The huge windows on 2 elevations give this room a pleasant and sunny feel, even on a dull day. Seating for up to 11 guests across 3 sofas and 2 armchairs, so there should be no arguments for the best seat in the house! A Smart TV and selection of games is provided. Bluetooth speaker. Glass French doors lead from the lounge into the kitchen-diner.
This spacious room is equally as pleasant as the lounge, as the open plan design suits the dynamics of a larger party especially with multi-generations. The kitchen has all of the usual appliances, such as an electric oven with electric 4-ring hob, kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine (with initial supply of pods) microwave, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. The kitchen has plenty of surface space and additional cupboard storage and surface space in the utility room for overflow of supplies.
The dining table seats 8 guests comfortably and has glass French doors leading from the dining area to a small, south-facing part of the garden to the side of the property.
The utility room is a very handy space for dogs to sleep at night and extra surface storage for food stuffs and boots and shoes for your holiday. There is a sink, washing machine, iron, ironing board and clothes horse stored here and you can access the garden from the back door.
The spacious downstairs WC has a wash basin with storage and small heated towel rail.
Stairs lead from the hallway to the landing where you can find the 4 bedrooms and family bathroom.
Master Bedroom with en suite
This east-facing room gets lovely sunlight in a morning. King size bed (5ft wide), dressing table area, plenty of wardrobe and drawer storage and Hypnos mattress. Luxury Egyptian cotton linen and towels provided.
The en suite has a walk-in shower with rainfall head and additional attachment, wash basin, WC, heated towel rail and complimentary toiletries provided.
Bedroom 2 – King size
Also east-facing, the sun is best in a morning in this bedroom and there are lovely views over the field with resident horse. King size bed with Hypnos mattress (5ft wide), dressing table area, wardrobe and large set of drawers. Luxury Egyptian cotton linen and towels provided.
Bedroom 3 – Twin singles or Super-king
This north-facing room looks out to the large rear garden through a large window. This bedroom is very spacious and has 2 single beds (each 3ft wide) that can be converted into a super-king size (6ft wide) upon request. Hypnos mattresses. Dressing table, wardrobe and luxury Egyptian cotton linen and towels provided.
Bedroom 4 – Twin singles or Super-king
This bedroom has windows on 2 elevations – south and west – so is a very sunny room and looks out to the front and south garden of the property. This bedroom is very spacious and has 2 single beds (each 3ft wide) that can be converted into a super-king size (6ft wide) upon request. Hypnos mattresses. Dressing table, wardrobe and luxury Egyptian cotton linen and towels provided.
This bathroom has a large Velux window letting natural light flood into the room. Large walk-in shower with rainfall head and additional attachment, WC, wash basin with storage, heated towel rail, additional radiator, separate bath and complimentary toiletries provided.
The rear garden is lawned and a great size, so ideal for children playing and enjoying the sun. The rear garden is enclosed so safe for pets and children. The front garden is small and south-facing, accessed through the dining area via French doors. This area is not enclosed.
Parking for up to 2 cars (possibly 3 hatchbacks at a squeeze) on private gravel driveway and additional overflow parking less than 20 yards away within the close. Plenty of bike storage is available in the garage.

All bedding is non-feather, hypo-allergenic, with Egyptian Cotton covers.
There is 1 bathroom, 1 downstairs WC and 1 en suite to the master bedroom. The en suite has a walk-in shower, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail. The downstairs WC has a WC, wash basin and heated towel rail. The family bathroom is located on the first floor and has a large, walk-in shower, separate bath, WC, wash hand basin, heated towel rail, separate radiator and complimentary toiletries. Towels are provided.
Garden & Outside
The front and back gardens are very pleasant and the back garden in particular is quite large and lawned. The small front garden is south-facing and accessed from the French doors in the dining area. The rear garden is enclosed. Outdoor dining for 8 guests on a large picnic-style bench.
There is no BBQ provided at Fieldside House. You are welcome to bring your own, so long as the furniture, grass and stone flags aren’t damaged.

Central heating is provided throughout the cottage.

Accommodation on 2 floors; open-plan kitchen/diner and separate lounge, utility, cloakroom WC and access to outside. On the first floor there are 4 bedrooms and the family bathroom. Access to the front door is up 1 shallow step to the porch.
There is plenty of bike storage in the garage and the garage can be accessed from both outside and inside the house. Bikes must be cleaned before storing in the garage.
Parking is available on the private gravel driveway in front of the house for up to 2 cars comfortably, and at a squeeze 3 hatchbacks. Additional parking is on the road outside in the private close.
Care of the Property
Our ‘Coquet’ cottages are much-loved privately-owned holiday homes into which our owners have lavished much care and investment to create beautiful places for their guests to enjoy. We therefore require a cautionary Good Housekeeping Deposit to protect our owners’ property, so that if damage/breakages occur or exceptional cleaning over and above the usual changeover clean is required up to the value of the deposit, the owner can be recompensed.
You have the option of paying either a £250 refundable Good Housekeeping Deposit or a smaller non-refundable £48 Deposit Waiver, which covers you to the value of £250. Please choose which option you prefer when booking. Click HERE for more information.

Chatton is a gorgeous village nestled in the pretty Northumbrian Valley, bordered by the Cheviots. The drive down to Chatton is stunning, especially on a sunny day. The village itself has a fab pub, The Percy Arms. Recently renovated is serves fancy pub grub in a hunting-lodge inspired interior. The village store and Chatton art gallery compliments the quaint village atmosphere and the village green planted with pretty shrubs in the summer.
Less than 2 miles from Chatton is Chillingham, with it’s magnificent inhabited castle and famous Chillingham White Cattle. The nearest beach is at Bamburgh, no more than 25 minutes in the car, and you can also reach the Borders easily too in about 30 minutes.

Take a day trip into Edinburgh
Why not hop on to the train to Edinburgh for the day? It’s so easy to reach from Berwick Station, it’s only 40 minutes on the train and you are in the centre of the city. Check out this great little blog on some of the best things to see and do in Edinburgh. Our favourites are discovering the warren of Edinburgh’s hidden streets at Mary King’s Close, having cocktails in the Juniper bar and heading up there for Christmas marks from the middle of November.

Visit The Farne Islands
The Farne Islands lie two to three miles off the Northumberland coast midway between the fishing village of Seahouses and the Castle of Bamburgh. There are between 15 and 20 islands depending on the state of the tide. From April until the end of July, these islands are dominated by one of the most exciting seabird colonies in the United Kingdom with unrivalled views of 23 species, including tens of thousands pairs of puffins, the sight is a joy to behold. The islands are also the permanent home for a large colony of Atlantic or Grey Seals and one of the top grey seal pupping sites in England.
We would recommend taking a boat tour out to the Farne Islands with Billy Shiel’s boat trips. This is ‘a must’ when you come to Northumberland, especially as The Gin Gan is located so close to Seahouses. Make sure you book in advance as they are incredibly popular, especially after being featured on the much-loved TV series ‘Tales from Northumberland’ with Robson Green.

Providing stand-up-paddle boarding individual and group lessons along with surfing lessons and welcoming all ages and abilities to come and enjoy surfing and stand up paddle boarding on several beautiful beaches along the Northumberland coast such as; North Druridge Bay, Warkworth Bay, Longhouton Bay, Embleton Bay, Beadnell Bay, Seahouses and Bamburgh.
All wet suits and surf boards are provided and included in the prices.

We’ve had our eye on the lovely Chatton for a long time. It is brilliantly located for beach or countryside, and we just love the drive into the village with its superb views over the valley. We have found the local folk to be very warm – you’ll find this in the terrific Percy Arms and the village shop.”
