Tips from a local
Walk down to Low Newton to the beach, and enjoy the stunning view along the bay with Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance. When passing The Square just before you step down on to the beach, don’t miss the famous ‘Ship Inn’ pub nestled in the corner – they have their own micro brewery and are highly renowned for their crab sandwiches.
Tips from a local
Dine at The Joiners Arms. Just across the road from the cottage, the Joiner’s Arms is a family-friendly, dog friendly pub and restaurant, serving excellent pub grub and with a great selection of spirits behind the bar for a wee tipple in front of the roaring fire. They even offer take-away fish and chips – perfect if you want to stay in the cottage but not have to cook!
Tips from a local
Drive up the A1 to the causeway and visit Lindisfarne Castle and Priory on Holy Island.
The Lindisfarne Brewery and gift shop is lovely for taking home some tasty goodies for friends and family – and for yourself! Just be extra careful with checking your tide times for the causeway, and don’t underestimate how fast that tide comes in.
Lynn and Pete
Owners of Leaholme
We asked Lynn and Pete what made them fall in love with Leaholme Cottage:
“We went to Leaholme many years ago for a family holiday when our eldest child Anna, who is now a teenager was a baby. We had a glorious week and had a fantastic time on the wonderful local beaches at Low Newton and Newton Links and thought the house was just perfect in every way. We enjoyed it so much we returned the following year to Leaholme and it became our favourite holiday destination.
When the house came on the market six years ago, we were lucky enough to have an offer accepted. We were absolutely thrilled that we were able to buy our dream holiday house. We furnished it with great love, care and attention not only for us as a family of four but for all of our guests (many now returning guests) to enjoy. With our two children Anna and Jonny, we continue to have precious family holidays at Leaholme.”
