The owners of Red Hen Cottage also own the 900 acre arable farm where the cottage is situated. Please be aware
There is just 1 bathroom and no additional WC. The bathroom is very large and incredibly spacious.
There are resident hens at the cottage next door. Every effort has been made to keep them in their coop at all times, but alike birds and other wildlife, they may very occasionally find their way into the garden of Red Hen Cottage. We deem this unlikely as the owner of the hens likes to keep them in check (!) but there is a small possibility of a little visitor during your stay.
What makes me different?
It goes without saying the hot tub is a gorgeous addition to Red Hen Cottage. South facing, it captures the very best of the sunrises and sunsets and is very warm during the summer months. During the winter, the cottage is equally as gorgeous with a huge wood-burning stove in the lounge. This cottage is so perfect in every season and is guaranteed to make memories come rain or shine!

Map & Local Area
Red Hen Cottage is situated in an idyllic location between Warkworth, Amble and Felton, on the outskirts of the pretty little village of Acklington. The area is quiet and very flat, so in the summer is a suntrap!
The immediate area is most well-known for the award-winning Morwick ice cream parlour which can be reached in just 10 minutes on foot. As the owner of Red Hen Cottage also owns 900 acres of arable farm-land around the cottage, you have full access to walk across the fields to get to the ice cream parlour – you can’t get more ‘typical-British-summer’ than that!
There’s a pub called the Railway Inn in the village, which is no more than 8-10 minutes away on foot from Red Hen Cottage. A small part of the walk (around 300m) isn’t lit and doesn’t have a footpath, but the rest of the village does. It wraps around the old railway located at the end of the village and has a pretty outside beer garden.
The village of Felton can be reached in just 10 minutes, as can the coastal town of Amble and the historic village of Warkworth. Alnwick is just 20 minutes away in the car where you can find the famous Treehouse, Castle and Gardens.
Red Hen Cottage is in a fantastic location for being central to lots of gorgeous villages, places of interest and the coast, yet in a very peaceful spot.

Red Hen Cottage is beautifully decorated and feels very homely. The televisions in each of the bedrooms were great for the kids, comfortable bedrooms and lovely to have a hot tub of course! The welcome basket was the best which we’ve ever had at a cottage! Thank you for a lovely stay we all had a relaxing family weekend at a beautiful cottage.Escape the ordinary read our guest book

Tips from a local
Take a stroll through the surrounding fields to switch off and unwind.
There are lovely, peaceful walks from the doorstep of the cottage. If you head out across the farm fields, along the public footpath, this will lead you to Morwick Ice Cream Parlour – Definitely a huge added bonus!
Tips from a local
Treat yourself to a delicious breakfast or lunch at The Sand Bar in Amble.
This Breakfast Bar and Bistro Cafe is the perfect spot for enjoying a bite to eat whilst watching the world go by. Situation directly opposite the entrance to the harbour, The Sand Bar is a huge hit with locals and holiday makers alike. The food is delicious and made with fresh, local ingredients wherever possible, the staff are very welcoming and accommodating, and the atmosphere is cheery and relaxed.
Whilst in Amble, be sure to have a tootle around the harbour and pier to take in the breath-taking sea views too.
