We are delighted to welcome The Dairy to our exclusive collection of gorgeous, luxurious holiday cottages around historic Northumberland. The Dairy is a beautifully converted sandstone farm building now standing peacefully in the sunny and quiet spot directly between Felton, Longframlington and Longhorsley. Northumberland’s 2 most prominent towns of Alnwick and Morpeth are just 15 minutes away.
This lovingly restored home uses plenty of glass letting in the glorious, balmy country sunshine, with solid oak and Jerusalem stone throughout, giving a contemporary, luxury twist on your typical ‘barn conversion’. With the wood burning stove and pretty garden seating under the pergola – and resident Alpacas nearby! – The Dairy is a holiday home ideal for family and friends getting together in every season.
The Dairy is a 20 minute walk from Linden Hall Golf and Leisure Club with it’s pub and restaurant amongst fabulous grounds. The Northumberland Arms and renouned artisan cafe, The Running Fox, can be found in nearby Felton. Enjoy fly fishing and clay pigeon shooting within 5 minutes of the cottage too!

The Dairy is a large 4 bedroom 1800’s sandstone property retaining original features. The property has been converted from the original farm building to an extremely high standard using the finest natural stone and hardwood materials throughout.
Approach The Dairy via a private fir tree lined driveway opening out to a large parking area with an enclosed lawned front garden and patio area with outdoor seating and storage trunk.
The oak porch forms the entrance to the hallway with free standing iron coat and shoe rack. There is access to a toilet and a beautiful oak staircase leading to bedroom 4.
The Dining Kitchen
The beautifully spacious and light kitchen/dining area is floored in Jerusalem stone flooring and has a fabulous natural sandstone wall with an arched doorway facing into the courtyard, providing views of the countryside. The vaulted ceiling adds to the relaxing feeling of space this room provides. The fabulous modern kitchen features a large Rangemaster cooker, American fridge freezer with ice and water dispenser, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle. The hard wood kitchen table seats 8 and the granite breakfast bar offers informal bar stool seating for two.
The Games Room
The large games room has double glazed windows along its entire six and a half metre length, including a glass patio door leading out onto the courtyard. With beautiful natural sandstone walls, vaulted ceiling, bar table and stools – here you can relax, play on the antique half size pool table or other games available.
The Living Room
A spacious vaulted ceiling room with arched glass windows and doors looking south over the lawned area and open countryside. A 50” TV, wood burning stove with (firewood supplied), huge sofa, 2 seater ‘love seat’ and chair, a sideboard and occasional tables, provide a superbly comfortable and relaxing place to watch TV or watch the three alpacas grazing in the paddock adjacent.
Master Bedroom with en suite
A superb room with vaulted ceiling and windows looking south to open countryside or west into the courtyard with it’s own private door opening out onto the lawned area. A French style king-size bed (pocket-sprung mattress) and bedside tables with solid oak, vintage painted bedroom suite – dressing table, wardrobe and chest of drawers.
This room features a large luxuriously equipped en-suite bath and shower room with double sized whirlpool bath, separate mood lighting shower, cubicle toilet and vanity basin. Fluffy towels, luxury linens, complimentary toiletries and a hair dyer provided.
Main Shower Room
Beautifully fitted out with Jerusalem stone floor and walls with large walk-in shower, WC and vanity hand basin/drawer unit with heated towel rail. Complimentary toiletries provided.
Dark wood, king-size bed (pocket sprung mattress), bedside tables, double wardrobe and ‘tallboy’ drawers/vanity area. A vaulted ceiling with the double glazed window looking out onto the courtyard. Fluffy towels, luxury linens and a hair dryer are provided.
Located nearest to main walk-in shower room.
Traditional style metal black and chrome king size bed (pocket sprung mattress) with matching black and silver embossed 3 drawer bedside tables and dressing table. There’s a TV, storage trunk and plenty of hooks with hangers, but no wardrobe. Fluffy towels, luxury linens and a hair dryer is provided.
This room can easily access the hall toilet/sink and/or the main walk in shower room.
The beautiful oak staircase just leads to the 4th bedroom.
A solid oak king-size bed (pocket sprung mattress) with fitted oak under-bed storage drawers. Bedside drawers, a fitted cupboard with hanging space and a dressing table and chair. An en-suite shower room with sink/vanity unit and heated towel rail. Fluffy towels, luxury linens, complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer are provided.
Rear Courtyard and Garden
The South Facing Courtyard has a huge round table and seating for eight, a storage shed and log store. This leads on to an enclosed lawned area and a paddock with 3 resident Alpacas (not accessible for guests – see more information below).
There is private parking on the driveway for up to 5 cars very comfortably.

There is private, off-road parking on the driveway for up to 5 cars at the front of The Dairy.

Garden & Outside
The south-facing courtyard has seating for up to 8 on the huge round table. The log-store is here too, and a shed which has outdoor games and the BBQ rack in. This also leads to the enclosed lawned area and the front lawn is safe to play out on too, as it’s enclosed.
There is a disposable BBQ provided by the owners along with a rack for this, which is kept in the shed.
The owners next door keep their resident Alpaca’s in the paddock adjacent to the lawned garden at the rear. The Alpaca’s will not wander into your grounds as they are kept separate, just like livestock. If you’d like to visit the Alpaca’s you’re very welcome to, but if you’d like to feed them please consult with the owners first, as they have their own special food and don’t eat ‘human’ food. Please keep dogs and young children out of the field.
American-style fridge/freezer, Rangemaster cooker and hob, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle. Washer/dryer, iron, ironing board and vacuum. Hairdryer, books, music and films. Dining table in the kitchen seats 8. The Games Room has a pool table and bar seating. Wood burning stove in the lounge has a supply of firewood available all year round.
50″ TV in the lounge with Freeview and a DVD player and a TV with Freeview in Bedroom 3. Radio, Wi-fi. Traditional wood-burning stove in the lounge (firewood provided all year round). Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor via a ground source heat pump and central heating via radiators on the first floor.
Please be Aware
– Super fast WiFi is provided on a complimentary basis and pretty reliable. There is the very occasional interruption given the rural location and the owners nor Coquet Cottages can be held responsible for any interruptions as it is completely out of our control.
– The Alpaca’s are gorgeous to look at but often aren’t the most forthcoming of animals. They are kept to themselves in their own, private paddock. If you’d like to see them a bit closer, you’re welcome to, but please do not feed them any of your own food as they have their own that they are fed each day.
Care of the Property
Our ‘Coquet’ cottages are much-loved privately-owned holiday homes into which our owners have lavished much care and investment to create beautiful places for their guests to enjoy. We therefore require a cautionary Good Housekeeping Deposit to protect our owners’ property, so that if damage/breakages occur or exceptional cleaning over and above the usual changeover clean is required up to the value of the deposit, the owner can be recompensed.
You have the option of paying either a £250 refundable Good Housekeeping Deposit or a smaller non-refundable £46 Deposit Waiver, which covers you to the value of £250. Please choose which option you prefer when booking. Click HERE for more information.

Situated almost equidistant from Longhorsley, Felton and Longframlington the Dairy is surrounded by open countryside yet only a short 15 minute drive to Alnwick or Morpeth with easy access to either the A1 or the A697.
The Dairy is a 20 minute walk from Linden Hall Golf and Leisure Club with its pub/restaurant and fabulous grounds. Nearby cafes pubs and restaurants are amongst the best in Northumberland including The Anglers Arms Weldon Bridge, The Running Fox café and the Northumberland Arms in Felton and the Cook and Barker at Newton on the Moor.
Sporting folk can enjoy Golf at Linden Hall or Burgham Park, Clay Pigeon shooting at nearby Bywell, fishing on the Coquet at Weldon Bridge or even Flying from Bockenfield airfield. – all on ‘our doorstep’ – within 5 minutes in the car!

Tips from a local
Take a pleasant stroll from the cottage to Linden Hall Pub and Restaurant.
Linden Hall offers relaxed dining in the Linden Tree Pub, and for a more formal meal, the Dobson Restaurant comes highly recommended.
The bar is dog friendly, and we suggest booking in advance for meals at either establishment to avoid disappointment!
Tips from a local
Just about 1 ½ miles from the cottage, Bywell Shooting Ground specialises in Clay Pigeon Shooting, and welcomes guests of all abilities. Great fun for all! Please book ahead to avoid disappointment and view the website for scheduled shooting hours.
Tips from a local
For a relaxing day out, take a picturesque fishing trip on the River Coquet.
The Angler’s Arms and Weldon Gun Rooms offer day fishing licences, and both are only 1 ½ miles from The Dairy.
The Angler’s Arms also comes highly recommended for some tasty pub grub, and with the oak wooden bar hosting real ales in a warm and friendly atmosphere, is the perfect end to a day out by the water.
