Tips from a local
Get your walking boots on and walk into Great Whittington to have a pint in The Queen’s Head. It’s only 1.3 miles from Roses Bower so it’s not too far, but long enough away to build up an appetite for a drink and some lovely home-cooked food!
Although it’s a traditional Northumbrian pub, they serve Chinese food in their restaurant which has been highly recommended by the locals.
Tips from a local
If staying in this beautiful part of our country then a visit to Hadrian’s Wall is an absolute MUST. In particular Vindolanda, Houseteads, and Steel Rigg. For the latter take your walking boots if you really want one of the finest views from along the wall and would like to see Sycamore Gap.
Tips from a local
Have a drive down to Blanchland and visit The Lord Crewe Arms and have a drink in the Crypt bar.
This awarding-winning ‘hotel of the year’ in 2016 has fantastic reviews and the food is fantastic. It’s also in the North Pennines AONB.
