The Hygge Hype
We’re getting in on the ‘Hygge Hype’
Hygge – pronounced hue-guh – is a Scandinavian word used to acknowledge a mood of cosiness, feeling or moment – pure contentment, so we thought we’d put together a list of our 5 favourite Hygge moments in and around Northumberland:
1. Sitting in the window seat at Wild Goose and looking out towards the sea
There’s nothing better than cuddling up with a hot cup of tea and a good book. You can get lost for hours. Especially when in the stunning Wild Goose at Bamburgh, the view is simply breath-taking.
2. A stroll on Bamburgh Beach
I think this one speaks for itself; the miles of stunning beach and especially in the winter when it is completely deserted. You can walk, you can run, do cartwheels, even dip your toe in the sea (although a word of warning – it’s rather chilly!). Hygge is all about doing things either alone or together.
3. Cuddling up in front of the fire at Lane End Cottage
After a crisp walk along the river at Warkworth, returning to Lane End Cottage, lighting the fire and having a glass of wine could not be more perfect. Lane End Cottage is right on the river and the perfect place to step out and go straight for a walk with your pooch, and no travelling!
4. Morning coffee sitting on the patio at Cobblestone Cottage
We love how it is almost silent, but with the birdsong in the distance. The patio is a sun-trap in itself and when the flowers are in bloom in the summer I can be sure you will want to spend all day there.Back to Blog
