Castle Street Cottage was a lovely experience from start to finish. The cottage had such a nice feel to it and we all loved the kitchen. Would certainly recommend it. We do stay in different self-catering cottages in different parts of the country; none measure up to Coquet Cottages though, because of the consistently high standard and attention to detail.

Tips from a local
If you’re staying on a Friday or Saturday evening, dinner at The Old Post Office Bistro is unmissable, but you need to book in advance as it’s so popular! Think fine dining with a relaxed coastal theme, using all locally sourced ingredients – a special place indeed.
Tips from a local
Coming to stay in the warmer months? Get on the beach and have a BBQ! Warkworth beach is never crowded, so you’re likely to have the beach to yourselves! The best bit to have a BBQ on is the furthest south end of the beach, where it’s nice and flat but sheltered from any strong winds. Go to The Amble Butcher on Amble High Street for the best sausages!
Tips from a local
Planning a pre-Christmas break to get you in the spirit? Tie your holiday in with the Warkworth Christmas Shopping evening. It generally happens on the last Friday in November, where most of the shops open in the village for late shopping and mince pies and bubbly. The Church hosts tombola’s, raffles and other fun games and the Memorial Hall opens for local artists to showcase their Christmas art. The pubs have such a great atmosphere on this night, as it is a big community evening to all get in the spirit of Christmas – you can get a head start on your Christmas shopping! If you’re planning to eat out in the village that night, make sure you get booked up in advance.

We asked Shannon what she likes best about Castle Cottage:
“I adore the location of Castle Street Cottage – just one step out of the front door and you’re greeted with magnificent Warkworth Castle at the top of the street, not to mention the lovely pubs and places to eat within a minutes’ walk of the cottage (Bertram’s do a smashing breakfast!).
The cosiness of the living room – the perfect spot to put your feet up in front of the wood-burning stove after a long day of exploring everything Northumberland has to offer (accompanied by a glass of red wine of course!)
I love the beautifully manicured garden – it seems to go on forever! It’s ideal for family and friends to sit together and enjoy the glorious Northumberland sunshine!”
