Hotspur Cottage in Warkworth is a boutique-style luxurious cottage snugly located in an attractive private courtyard in the centre of the historic village of Warkworth. Perfect for a couple, its location makes it ideal for exploring Northumberland whilst having all the amenities of the village to hand – pubs, restaurants, shops, castle, riverside, beach and a fabulous castle to explore too.

Hotspur Cottage has been awarded 5 Stars by Visit England. 2 well behaved dogs are very welcome here for an additional charge of £20 each. We can provide a cot and highchair too for our younger guests and complimentary luxury bathrobes and slippers are offered at this cottage upon request.

Overview

A good sized entrance hall leads in from a quiet courtyard, enclosed and providing access to neighboring properties. Open plan lounge with dining area and kitchen area. Electric solid fuel-effect stove, not needed as a source of heat as there is full gas fired central heating, but providing a cosy ambience. Flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player, Hi-Fi, good library of books and DVD’s of all genres.

Oak kitchen with electric fan-assisted oven, ceramic hob, microwave, integrated fridge, separate freezer and integrated dishwasher. (Please note: there is no washing machine at this cottage but a laundry service is offered.)

Bedroom with king size (5ft wide) bed, wardrobe and chest.  Luxury bed linen, duvet and pillows are hypo-allergenic filled (non-feather). Flat screen TV with Freeview. Clock radio/music system with iPhone/mp3 docking station. Luxury bathrobes are available on a complimentary basis upon request.

Outside Hotspur Cottage in Warkworth

Hotspur Cottage sits within an attractive and enclosed courtyard, providing a quiet space whilst still being situated in the heart of the village.  The courtyard is enclosed with feature wrought iron gates.  Access is provided to the neighbouring residents across the courtyard, but it is very quiet and nice to sit out in on fine days. The river bank is located just 50 yards down Brewery Lane, where The Mill Walk begins.

Parking
There is no dedicating parking space for Hotspur Cottage. Parking is either on the main street or on the riverbank. There are no parking charges anywhere in Warkworth village.

Care of the Property
Our ‘Coquet’ cottages are much-loved privately-owned holiday homes into which our owners have lavished much care and investment to create beautiful places for their guests to enjoy. We therefore require a cautionary Good Housekeeping Deposit to protect our owners’ property, so that if damage/breakages occur or exceptional cleaning over and above the usual changeover clean is required up to the value of the deposit, the owner can be recompensed.

You have the option of paying either a £150 refundable Good Housekeeping Deposit or a smaller non-refundable £12 Deposit Waiver, which covers you to the value of £150.  Please choose which option you prefer when booking.  Click HERE for more information.

One shower room with a large shower, WC and basin with heated towel rail.

TV’s in the lounge and bedroom, with Freeview and an Amazon Firestick in the lounge and a DVD player, Radio and Music System, Nespresso Coffee Machine, free unlimited Wi-Fi.

Accessibility
Accommodation all on one level, with one step up over the threshold of the front door. Walk in shower.

Please be Aware
The courtyard is shared with neighboring residents so we ask dog owners to be respectful, not allow their dog unsupervised freedom of the shared yard, as other holiday-makers may not like dogs, and promptly clean up after them.
There is no designated parking or parking outside of the property, but you can unload your belongings when parked in the lane. Parking is between 20-100 yards away, with no parking charges.
There is no bath in this cottage, nor a washing machine.
There is a strict limit of 2 small to medium sized dogs permitted at the cottage. No exceptions are possible.

Hotspur Cottage is perfectly situated in the very heart of medieval Warkworth village, with all of the amenities of the village just a stroll away – restaurants, pubs, shops, riverbank and castle. It’s also an easy walk to the vast and golden sanded Warkworth beach.

You can walk to Amble, a friendly fishing port just 1.5 miles from the cottage. The walk takes you along the Coquet estuary and through the interesting harbour, where you will find the Harbour Village, an interesting collection of little gift shops, The Fish Shack, Old Boathouse restaurant, Sea and Soil, Radcliffe’s and The Quayside Chippy, as well as renowned ice cream parlour, Spurellis. You’re completely spoilt for choice with everything on your doorstep.

The ‘arty’ seaside village of Alnmouth is just 3 miles north, with famous Alnwick, with its world-class Alnwick Garden and Treehouse, perfectly preserved castle, which was ‘Hogwart’s School’ in the Harry Potter films, just 7 miles north.

Tips from a local

Try dining at The Warkworth House Hotel in their ‘Number 16’ bistro. The restaurant caters well for vegetarians and has a good range of local produce. On weekends we would suggest booking in advance.

Warkworth Castle is such a well-preserved and truly impressive Norman castle that a stay in the area isn’t complete without exploring this amazing place. Even if you wouldn’t normally, take up the audio tour, it really brings the castle to life! Great for all ages, even the little ones as it’s great for them to run around the grassy grounds with a pretend sword in hand!

“Hotspur Cottage was my father’s home, so it holds many memories for us. My father chose to live there because of its fantastic location in the prettiest village in all of Northumberland and loved being so close to both the countryside and its abundance of nature, but also close to the sea, as he sailed.

Today, it makes the perfect luxury bolthole for a couple looking to enjoy village life as well as being in a great spot for exploring further afield. The walks along the riverside are just magical, and the beach is just the perfect place for blowing away those cobwebs and seeing just what really matters in life!”
