We’re delighted to welcome Seafarer at Amble to our collection of luxury, privately-owned holiday properties in Northumberland. The view is spectacular being on the 3rd floor, Seafarer is part of the exclusive Coble Quay development, looking over the yachts in Amble Marina and out to sea, over Warkworth beach dunes and up the Coquet Estuary to Warkworth Castle and beyond to Alnmouth– it’s an artist’s paradise. Seafarer has been award 5 stars by Visit England as well as a prestigious GOLD award.
As the tides and light change so does the vista, offering a fabulous place to relax and unwind. If you enjoy bird or wildlife spotting this is the place for you with many species, including seals, regularly seen from the balcony.
There are a wealth of watersports available directly from Amble, all within easy walking distance of Seafarer, see further details below. Boat trips to Coquet Island and the Farne Islands offer the opportunity to see seals, puffins and many other sea birds up close. There is a small beach within walking distance called The Little Shore, and just beyond this there is a waterplay area and children’s playground, perfect for families.
Seafarer is situated on one of the most scenic stretches of National Cycle Route One, offering mostly off-road family-friendly cycling running up and down the coastline. Cycles for all ages can be hired locally, or if you bring your own there is secure cycle storage.
Within a few minutes’ walk of Seafarer is Ambles’ new harbour development with pretty wooden boutique shopping pods, designed to emulate the fishermen’s wooden shacks of old. There’s also an interesting Lobster Hatchery. There are several great eating places all within yards of Coble Quay, including The Fat Mermaid, the award-winning Old Boathouse and Sea and Soil, and others, including great fish and chips shops, where the fish has been landed directly onto the quay, and the award-winning Spurelli’s Ice Cream Parlour. There is a good little delicatessen right next to Coble Quay too, perfect for making up a picnic for a day out exploring.
A spacious and luxurious two bedroom apartment, with panoramic views overlooking Amble marina and harbour, Seafarer is situated on the third floor with lift access and is suitable for up to four guests, including those with limited mobility as it’s level throughout with wide doorways and a walk-in shower. The property is non-smoking, either inside or on the balcony. As well as lovely walks from the apartment, there are watersports, boat trips, lovely restaurants, pubs, restaurants and shops all within easy walking distance.
Pets are not permitted at Seafarer.
Important Information Regarding the current Building Works at the Coble Quay Development
There are neighbouring building works happening around Coble Quay for the foreseeable future. The beautiful view is completely undisturbed and there are no works happening inside the apartment block, they are adjacent to Coble Quay.
Whilst neither the owners nor Coquet Cottages have any control over neighbouring building works, as a gesture of goodwill we are offering discounts to compensate for any potential disturbance that may be caused during your holiday. The developers cannot predict the schedule for building works in the future, it may be that no disturbance at all is caused throughout your holiday, and they do not work at weekends, but at some times during the midweek there may be some noise and traffic at the other side of Coble Quay.
So, for all mid-week and full week bookings, the breaks have all been reduced by 20%, saving between £126 and £239 per full week and between £94 and £179 per short break.
By booking the apartment and accepting this discount, you accept that this discount is purely a gesture of goodwill and that neither the owners nor Coquet Cottages have any liability regarding the neighbouring building works. With the acceptance of the discount offered, no further discounts or any other form of compensation will be available before, during or after the holiday.
There is a communal entrance to the apartment block leading to stairs or a lift. Seafarer is located on the third floor (top floor) with level access from the lift.
Open Plan Living Space
The living area at Seafarer is open-plan to make the most of the breathtaking view with full length panoramic windows and to be more conducive to the social nature of holiday living. The beautifully fitted kitchen with granite work surfaces, has integrated appliances including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer, with the addition of the essential coffee machine, microwave, toaster and kettle.
In addition to an informal breakfast bar, the dining area provides comfortable seating for four. The entire living space offers panoramic coastal views with comfy sofas and chairs from which to enjoy the ever changing colours of the sea and landscape.
The huge windows open onto a North West facing balcony for alfresco dining, where you can watch the evening sun set and make the most of the spectacular views. A large flat screen Smart TV (with full access to Netflix) and Bluetooth music system complete the facilities to help you relax and enjoy this lovely space.
Master Bedroom with en-suite Shower Room
A unique feature of this bedroom is the windows on either side of the bed so you can wake up to stunning coastal views – without even getting out of bed! There’s a Smart TV with access to Netflix and the bed is super-king size (6ft wide) although is convertible to 2 single beds (3ft wide) upon request. The bed will be made into a super king size unless requested to be twins. There are 2 single duvets provided for whichever bed configuration, which is a modern Scandinavian style.
The bed linen and towels are top quality, and with the addition of The White Company complimentary toiletries for adult guests, this gorgeous bedroom provides the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate.
The luxury en-suite shower room is fully tiled with Italian porcelain and has a walk in shower, wash hand basin, WC and heated towel rail. Although there is no provision for a wheelchair in the bathrooms, there is a walk-in shower.
This equally lovely bedroom is beautifully furnished with a sense of calm in mind. It has a huge window providing a interesting view over the town square and letting in plenty of natural light. The bed is king size (5ft wide) and there’s a Smart TV with full access to Netflix too. Luxury bed linen and towels, along with complementary toiletries by The White Company for adult guests complete the sense of luxury in this lovely room.
The second bathroom is adjacent to the second bedroom and is fully tiled and incredibly spacious. The large ‘L-shape’ bath has with an overhead shower as well as a WC, basin and heated towel rail.
The west-facing balcony makes the most of the incredible sunsets we have here in Northumberland, with a silhouette of Warkworth Castle and reflections on the Coquet Estuary looking like it’s on fire sometimes. Those with an interest in painting will find this view perfect for capturing on canvas.
Outside and Parking
There is a private parking space for one car located opposite the entrance to the apartment block under cover. Further shared guest parking is also available within a few yards. There’s a storage lockup located on the ground floor of the apartment block which is available for the secure storage of sporting equipment, please enquire with us if this is required.
Watersports and Activities
You can bring your own equipment to make the most of being located on a superb estuary as well as having access to one of the best beaches in the UK, storage space may be available at Seafarer – please enquire.
The Coquet Shorebase Trust offer equipment hire and training for all ages and abilities, all within walking distance of the apartment. They have everything from sailing, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle-boarding, windsurfing and raft-building to powerboats. They also offer tours of the Coquet Estuary. Sailing and windsurfing are also available on the lake at nearby Druridge Bay. The Coquet Yacht Club is just a few hundred yards along the estuary too and open to the public. There is a secure lock up within the basement of the apartment which may be available for storage of your own sports equipment, please enquire.
Seafarer is situated on one of the most scenic stretches of national cycle route one and offers mostly off road family friendly cycling, north to Alnmouth, Boulmer and beyond, and south to Druridge Bay Country Park and Cresswell. The Drift cafe, a cyclist friendly cafe just yards from the beach at Cresswell, is a highly recommended stop!
Cycles and safety equipment can be hired locally from Pedal Power and can even be delivered direct to the apartment and collected later. If you wanted a full cycling holiday without the car, they offer a full transport service and baggage transfers so that you could stay at Seafarer as part of a longer cycling holiday.
Just off the coast of Amble lies Coquet Island, an important RSPB bird reserve and grey seal colony. Many bird species reside on the island including puffins from May to July. Trips around the island are possible from Amble harbour with Dave Gray’s Puffin Cruises who have been running boat trips around Coquet Island since 1969 direct from the harbourside next to Seafarer.

Hypo-allergenic synthetic bedding and pillows are provided on each bed. There is no alternative available.
The family bathroom with a shower over a large L-shape bath, WC and basin and with a heated towel rail. Additional en suite shower room with a walk-in shower, basin, WC and heated towel rail.
The balcony is as wide as the huge sliding doors and has a table with chairs. On the 3rd floor, it overlooks the marina and is west facing to take advantage of the gorgeous sunsets.
Allocated parking for 1 car in the Coble Quay car park. Additional parking is nearby.

Whilst the windows are cleaned weekly, the owners cannot take responsibility for any salt spray from the sea which may interrupt the view.
The apartment is level throughout with extra wide doors, walk-in shower and a lift from the ground floor. However, the apartment cannot be deemed completely suitable for wheelchair users. Please call us if you have any specific questions.
Map & Local Area
Seafarer is perfectly positioned to capture the stunning Amble coastline, marina, North Sea and the estuary from all of the huge windows in the apartment and the wall-to-wall glazed doors. From the door of the apartment main entrance, you can take a stroll along the promenade to the harbour front, where you will find a great market on a Sunday and also The Fish Shack, a daytime bistro. Further on you can find Spurelli’s ice cream parlour, The Old Boathouse bistro, The Fat Mermaid Tapas and Deli bar and the Harbour Village; a cluster of small gift shops.
The rock pools are great to explore which are next to the beach along from the harbour, as is the little bay and the pier going right out to the lighthouse where you have beautiful views of Coquet Island. The whole of the Northumberland heritage coastline is easy to discover from Amble, with its necklace of pretty coastal villages threaded up the coastline to Holy Island and Budle Bay.

Tips from a local
Take advantage of the excellent dining options in Amble. This small but lively town has a number of fantastic restaurants with excellent menus. In particular the seafood in Amble is spectacular as it is caught locally so is as fresh as it comes! Your spoiled for choice with The Old Boat House, The Fish Shack, The Fat Mermaid, Sea and Soil, Taj Mahal, and the Italian restaurant Zecca. Just be sure to book as all of the above get pretty busy with locals and holiday makers alike.
Tips from a local
Cycle to Cresswell from Amble – it’s about an 8.5 mile route and the same again back. You follow the dunes heading south out of Amble, through Low Hauxley and the views are just beautiful. When we do this route, we finish at The Drift Café behind the dunes at Cresswell, for a hot coffee and something sweet, then we head back to Amble.
You can hire bikes for adults and children Pedal Power who are in Amble too, in case you couldn’t fit yours in the car!
Tips from a local
Go on a Puffin Cruise to Coquet Island, sailing from Amble dock. The island is home to over 40,000 nesting sea birds such as Puffins, Roseate Terns, Sandwich Terns, Arctic Terns, Kittiwakes and Eider Ducks which all nest in the summer months. A grey seal colony also stays at the island all year round can be seen on the east side of the island. Dave Gray’s boat trips are the best and have been operating for the longest.

Pop down to the Fat Mermaid deli just next to the apartments and stock up on tasty treats to enjoy on the balcony with a chilled glass of wine – it’s positively Mediterranean!
