The Atrium is just as modern and cool as the name suggests, yet built for comfortable living in the town of Alnwick, teeming with history. The Atrium in Alnwick is right in the centre of this interesting Northumbrian town, just a stones throw away from Alnwick Castle and the grounds of Hulne Park and yards from the main street of the town. You have your choice of great places to eat, drink, walk and tour in the town of Alnwick, not forgetting the Farmer’s Market which is hosted in the town square once a week!

The apartment sleeps up to 4 guests but is perfect for a couple who enjoy modern living, relaxing and a bright and airy living space. Every area has been thought of in The Atrium and the west-facing balcony is the ‘cherry on the cake’ after a day out exploring, to indulge in the afternoon and evening sun with a glass of something cool, of course.

No pets are permitted at The Atrium, but children are welcome. There’s a private parking space and free Wi-Fi too.

The Atrium sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms; 1 king size room and 1 twin bedroom that can be converted into a super king-size upon request. This makes it a perfect apartment for couples on their own, 2 couples holidaying together or a young family. The kitchen, dining area and lounge are open plan, complimented by floor-to-ceiling windows letting in lots of natural sunlight.

The apartment is south-west facing, meaning the sunsets are gorgeous and the light in an afternoon is warm and inviting. The private balcony faces this way too, so it’s perfect to enjoy an evening aperitif (or mid-afternoon – you’re on holiday after all!).

Pets aren’t allowed here but children are very welcome. Highchair available upon request but please bring your own travel cot. Free WiFi is throughout the apartment and there’s private parking space for 1 car.

The entrance into the apartment building is through the main glass doors, leading into the huge glass atrium spanning 3 floors – hence the name! You can choose the stairs or the lift, but the apartment is on the second floor.

Entrance into the apartment is opposite the huge glass atrium looking out onto Alnwick town, which is a fantastic feature of the apartment building. The apartment is all on one level and entry is straight into the hallway.


Open Plan Living Space – Kitchen

Leading straight down the hallway you’ll arrive into the bright, open-plan living space. The kitchen is very well equipped and contains the usual appliances and accessories such as an under-bench fridge and freezer, electric oven and ceramic hob, kettle, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and cafetiere to enjoy fresh coffee.

Dining Space

The large, scrubbed-wood dining table seats 6 guests and makes the most of the pretty views out to the garden of the old house down below.

The lounge has a 3 seater sofa and a comfortable, white leather contemporary armchair for relaxing. The Smart TV has access to Netflix and there’s a Sonos speaker too so you can enjoy your own music or podcasts. Full instructions on how to work the Sonos speaker are provided, although you’ll need a Smart phone to download the app and access its facilities.

Accessed from the lounge and the master bedroom is the west-facing balcony. This pretty space has a small bench seat to comfortably sit 2, and whilst doesn’t have seating for 4 due to the limited space, it can fit 4 people onto the balcony to enjoy the afternoon and early-evening sun.

Master Bedroom

The largest bedroom faces out to the balcony and has a king size bed (5ft wide), super-comfy mattress and lots of storage space. The bedding is all non-feather, luxury linens and fluffy towels and a hair dryer is also provided. You can access the balcony from this bedroom to enjoy a morning coffee.

Twin/Super king Bedroom

The twin bedroom is spacious with enough storage space for whilst on holiday. The twin single beds (2ft 9″ wide) can convert into a super king size (nearly 6ft wide), upon request. All bedding is non-feather. Luxury linens, fluffy towels and a hair dryer are provided.

Family Bathroom

There is 1 parking space outside the apartment building for 1 car. 2 small hatchbacks could fit in this space back-to-back but otherwise an additional car would need to be parked somewhere local. There is lots of parking in Alnwick town using a ‘disc’ system, which is all free of charge.

There is private parking space for one car in an allocated bay outside the apartment building. Additional, on-street parking can be found very close-by. There are no ‘guest’ spaces in the apartment parking area.

The west-facing balcony can be accessed from both the lounge and the master bedroom. The balcony has a bench seat for 2. There are lovely walks in and around Alnwick Castle to enjoy on foot too from the apartment.

With all accommodation on one level and level access from the front door, this apartment is well suited to those with limited mobility, and lift access is available. Please note that the shower is over the bath.

Central location with all the amenities of Alnwick town on your doorstep, including magnificent Alnwick Castle and the world-famous Alnwick Garden.  The stunningly beautiful Heritage coastline is just around 10 minutes drive away, and the necklace of pretty coastal villages strung along the Heritage coastline are crying out to be explored, from Amble in the south up to Bamburgh in the north.  A drive across the causeway to Holy Island is not to be missed, and a boat trip to the nature reserves of the Farne Islands are unmissable too.  Inland The Cheviot Hills and Coquet Valley provide fantastic walking and cycling opportunities and grand country houses such as Cragside, Wallington Hall and Howick Hall provide historical and gardening interest.

Care of the Property
Our ‘Coquet’ cottages are much-loved privately-owned holiday homes into which our owners have lavished much care and investment to create beautiful places for their guests to enjoy. We therefore require a cautionary Good Housekeeping Deposit to protect our owners’ property, so that if damage/breakages occur or exceptional cleaning over and above the usual changeover clean is required up to the value of the deposit, the owner can be recompensed.

You have the option of paying either a £150 refundable Good Housekeeping Deposit or a smaller non-refundable £24 Deposit Waiver, which covers you to the value of £150.  Please choose which option you prefer when booking.  Click HERE for more information.

The Atrium is right in the very heart of the medieval town of Alnwick and incredibly well situated for exploring the town, eating out and going for walks too, all without having to get in the car.

You can reach Alnwick Gardens and Castle on foot, as well as the famous Treehouse. The closest entrance to Alnwick Castle is just 5 minutes walk away on Bailiffgate, but for the Treehouse it will take around 15-20 minutes on foot, but it’s an easy walk. You can also discover the famous Barter Books in the centre of the town, which is no more than 10 minutes walk away from The Atrium – this is a must in the cooler months to relax by the fire with a cuppa and a good book! There’s lots of little shops, independent cafes and restaurants, as well as some great pubs around the town too. Twice a week, the market place has a farmer’s market.

Hulne Park is also less than 10 minutes walk away from the apartment, which has many routes to take. This fabulous park is part of the Alnwick Castle estate and has so many different routes to choose from. You can walk from 1 mile to 10 miles if you wish!

The nearest beach to The Atrium is just 10 minutes’ drive in the car at Alnmouth, where you can park right on the beach and walk the length of the entire coast at Alnmouth, around 7 miles in total.

The Atrium is a fabulous apartment in a great location, with walks, great places to eat, the coast, shops and historical sites all at your fingertips.

Tips from a local

Cragside is a must when staying in this area of Northumberland. Cragside was the first country house in the world to be lit using hydroelectric power by Lord Armstrong, a key figure in Northumberland. As well as the interesting house, the whole estate is open to the public with its magnificent walks and country trails, as well as a huge children’s play park and a nice café too.
It is ran by the National Trust, click HERE to visit the website and it’s about 15 minutes drive from Alnwick.

Visit the Bailiffgate Museum, in the heart of Alnwick Market Town. The museum and gallery is a people’s museum, where fascinating stories of the past are told about the town and district of Alnwick. The town’s old Castle Quarter, which was previously a church, provides a calm and beautiful setting in which to celebrate Alnwick and Northumberland’s distinctive heritage, display special exhibitions and present a range of events. There’s a bit of something for everyone here!

Tips from a local

Treat yourself to an Afternoon Tea at The Cookie Jar in Alnwick. Dine within the stunning, historic building of the former Convent of Mercy, in the cosy and stylish bistro. There is a full menu option, but the Afternoon Tea in particular is divine and very reasonably priced too! The Cookie Jar has a real luxurious feel throughout, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Tips from a local

Have a trip to Alnwick Castle and Garden, and enjoy a spot of lunch at The Treehouse. This quirky and charming restaurant is a great, unique dining experience, and the menu is very good too.

The attraction tickets allow entry for a full year, so it’s a great excuse to visit Northumberland again! Make sure you book up in advance at The Treehouse to avoid disappointment as it is very popular.
