Further afield, you have the intriguing town of Alnwick (7 miles) and its magical castle, the real-life Hogwarts. Keen walkers can enjoy a long stroll along the Northumberland Coast Path.
Head through the front door and find a spacious hallway where you can leave your walking or beach gear. Leading from here is a handy downstairs WC, as well as the living and kitchen areas. The kitchen/diner is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare picnics or hearty meals, and a little dining table seats six guests. Settle down in the colourful lounge with its high ceiling and bright décor. There is plenty of space on the comfortable sofas and an electric fire contributes to the ambience of the space. Outside to the rear of the cottage is an enclosed patio garden. Though compact, it houses a table and chairs where you can sit back and reflect on the day’s events while tucking into whatever meal you have rustled up. There is private parking for one car, and roadside parking for others.
