Wagonway Lodge is a stylish, contemporary converted stone cottage in the centre of the market town of Alnwick. Refurbished to an impeccable standard, Wagonway House sleeps six guests in three bedrooms and is a stone’s throw away from the famous Barter Books bookshop, the UK’s biggest second-hand bookshop and cafe and The Alnwick Garden.

With an open-plan living style but with large bedrooms for comfort and privacy, Wagonway Lodge is a secret haven in the centre of the town. There is private parking and a large, enclosed lawned and patio garden for enjoying balmy evenings and fresh coffee on a morning.

Wagonway Lodge welcomes two well-behaved dogs and is just 10 minutes easy drive to the beaches of Alnmouth and Boulmer.

Overview

Wagonway House sleeps six guests in 3 bedrooms; one super king, one king size and one twin single bedroom that can be converted into a super king bed. The master bedroom has an en suite and the family bathroom has a feature bath with mood lighting.

All on one level, the lounge, kitchen and dining area are open plan with several windows on two elevations, so the room is flooded with light. The bedrooms are all very spacious with plenty of storage and overall the property is a perfect size for six guests.

Two well-behaved medium size dogs are very welcome for a small charge. Free Wi-Fi as standard.

Entrance

The entrance into Wagonway Lodge is pretty and private. The entrance leads to an initial open porch which is handy for housing coats and shoes and leads straight into the main hallway.

Open Plan Living Space – Dining Kitchen

The super-modern kitchen houses all of the usual appliances such as a fridge/freezer, electric fan oven and gas hob, microwave, 4-slice toaster, kettle, Nespresso machine (with initial supply of pods provided) dishwasher and washer/dryer. In the kitchen area there are 5 large sash windows on both the east and west elevations. The dining table seats 6 guests very comfortably.

Open Plan Living Space – Lounge

The lounge is as cosy as it is contemporary, with the original exposed main beams above and the main focal point being the feature fireplace housing a wood-burning-effect gas fire. The huge HD Smart TV has access to Netflix, there is board games, a Bluetooth speaker and there is seating for six guests.

Master Bedroom with en suite

The master bedroom features an interesting panelled wall with a ‘secret’ wardrobe, super king size bed (6ft) and dressing table area. Large sash windows feature on two elevations (east and west). Luxury bedding and towels provided. Hairdryer.

The en suite has a shower over the bath, heated towel rail, WC and wash hand basin. Complimentary toiletries provided by Temple Spa.

King Size Bedroom

This huge room has a king size bed (5ft wide), large mirrored double wardrobe and a traditional dressing table. There are 5 windows in this room – a mix of sash and small feature windows – that are north and west facing. Luxury linens and fluffy towels provided.

Twin/Super King Bedroom

This bedroom is equally as spacious and features two 3ft wide single beds that can be converted into a super king size upon request (at least 7 days notice required). Mirrored wardrobe, windows on a north-east and south-west elevation and luxury linens and towels provided. Hairdryer.

Family Bathroom

This gorgeous bathroom has a feature bath with mood lighting inset in the tiles above. There is a separate shower with a rain fall head, large heated towel rail, WC and wash hand basin. Complimentary toiletries provided by Temple Spa.

Garden and Parking

The garden is enclosed and is a mixture of lawn and patio and has some great feature lighting built into the patio. A dining table with seating for six will be available in the spring. There is designated off-road private parking for 2 large cars or 3 hatchback-size cars.

This interesting building has been completely restored and was once the Citizen’s Advice Bureau for Alnwick town. Now it is a luxurious, contemporary retreat in a peaceful setting within the town.

Hypo-allergenic duvets and pillows on all beds.

The family bathroom has a walk-in shower (with shallow thresh), separate feature bath, wash hand basin, WC and heated towel rail. The en suite has a shower over the bath with a heated towel rail, WC and wash hand basin. Complimentary toiletries by Temple Spa.

Accessibility
Accommodation all on one floor. One step up to the hallway from the front door porch. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower (7cm lip up to the shower tray) and separate bath.

Care of the Property
Our ‘Coquet’ cottages are much-loved privately-owned holiday homes into which our owners have lavished much care and investment to create beautiful places for their guests to enjoy. We therefore require a cautionary Good Housekeeping Deposit to protect our owners’ property, so that if damage/breakages occur or exceptional cleaning over and above the usual changeover clean is required up to the value of the deposit, the owner can be recompensed.
You have the option of paying either a £200 refundable Good Housekeeping Deposit or a smaller non-refundable £34 Deposit Waiver, which covers you to the value of £200.  Please choose which option you prefer when booking.  Click HERE for more information.

Wagonway Lodge is tucked away in the centre of Alnwick in a quiet little haven right next to Barter Books. It will take you no more than a few minutes on foot to reach the main street of the town. You can easily walk to Alnwick Garden, Alnwick Treehouse and the Castle from the property, as well as a great selection of restaurants, shops and pubs.

The coast is really easy to reach from Alnwick too, both north and south. Southbound you will come to Alnmouth, Warkworth and Amble with the quirky Alnmouth pubs, Beautiful Warkworth beach and rockpools and the interesting Amble harbour.

To the north you have Craster with their nationally recognised Swallowfish kipper Smokehouse, Embleton with it’s stunning beach, Beadnell – a watersports haven, Seahouses harbour with famous Billy Shiels Farne Islands boat tours and Bamburgh with it’s magnificent castle.
