Northumberland's family cottages
Kids of all ages love our cottages. Not just because they’re a base to have great days out from – at the beach, exploring great castles like Alnwick Castle (used in the Harry Potter films), hiring bikes to go exploring – but because after they get ‘home’ to their holiday cottage, there’s still so much to do!
Here are a few extra things we provide in some of our family cottages in Northumberland, perfect for family holidays (please check individual cottage details for what’s available):
- TVs with Freeview – most properties have more than one TV so the kids can have their own space
- Bluetooth speakers or docking station music systems in most cottages
- Games consoles with games to suit all ages in most cottages
- Books, toys and games to suit all ages from 2 to 102
- Enclosed gardens or patio areas to play in
- A range of baby equipment to ease your packing! This could include baby bottle sterilisers, baby listening monitors, pushchairs, stairgates, cots, cot bedding, highchairs, baby back carriers, toys, etc.
Northumberland has a wide range of family-friendly attractions. Here's a small selection:
- Willowburn Sports Centre in Alnwick has inflatable fun-time sessions in its swimming pool, and a climbing wall.
- Whitehouse Farm Centre in Morpeth is a 40-acre farm centre with 75% undercover in case of rain.
- Billy Shiel’s Farne Island Boat Trips in Seahouses gives you and the kids a chance to see ocean-faring birds and seal colonies up close.
- And when the little ones need a pick-me-up, Morwick Ice Cream Parlour near Warkworth is an award-winning dairy which makes THE MOST delicious ice cream in a constantly evolving range of natural flavours.
